My Mach 1
|
This is my 71 Mach 1. It is not much to look at right now, but as I had been saying since 1990 "One of these days....". It is an M-Code (351-C 4V), with a C6 auto, black deluxe interior with woodgrain inserts, center guages, ram air (missing assembly), Air conditioning (also missing), and who knows what else, as I have not located a build sheet yet, but I would say the list of options was short. I always wanted a 429 SCJ, and since my 351 lost oil pressure, and the trans gave up the ghost in 1991 I kind of gave up on it. About 3 years ago I started building a 429 for it, the short block is complete with flat top pistons, Competition Cams 290H magnum cam, and Clevite bearings. I have a set of D0VE heads that I need to have redone, and then the Trans needs beefing up. Hopefully then I will be able to get it out of the garage. |
UPDATE!
Well the 429 project is off as of right now. I am in the
process if locating a low mileage Lincoln Mark VIII for an engine swap. From what I have read the 93-96 pre-PATS (passive anti-theft system) Cars will work. This idea appeals to me in many ways: better drive-ability, more tuning options, better fuel economy, not to mention easier supercharger install! Fuel injection is far superior for all around driving and slapping a blower on this will make easily as much power as my naturally aspirated 429, with lower compression and will get better fuel mileage. Also having a the 4R70W o/d transmission adds to the appeal. Top it all off with a custom tune for the ECM and this car has potential to be a MONSTER!
