| An Island Getaway |
| Tucked away at the north-eastern corner of the mainland, Ubin is Singaoire's second largest island, measuring 8 km across and 1.5 km in width. Essentially, it is a large granite outcrop rosing from the sea to maximum height of 75m (Puaka Hill). Tow slets, Pulau Ketam and Pulau Sekudu, lie to its south, The island is hilly at both western and eastern ends but low-lying in the central region, where prawn and fish farms are sited. |
| Since the middle of the last century, granite mining has supported settlers and numerous cottafe industries. Today, about 200 inhabitants call Ubin their home, making a living off the land or relying on weekend visitors to support a quiet tourist trade. |
| Head out for Noordin, and swimmers and campers; the area boasts of natural stretch of sandy beach. Good fishing spots are found near the Ketam Channel and along the waterways when the tide comes in. If spotting feathered friends is what you enjoy, then birdwatching is best done in the early mornings and evening - almost anywhere on the island allows you to sight species not commonly seen on the mainland. |

| Bumboat charges are $2.00 for one way trip. There is no fixed schedule and the bosyd leave only after a quota of passengers have been filled. Operating hours start from about 6 am till 11 pm daily. However, as there are few passengers in the late evenings, frequencies tend to be irregular and visiters should take this into considaration when staying late. |
