So, what does this all mean? Does this mean that it is okay to sin? That I can do whatever I want since Jesus will forgive me anyway? This would definitely be the wrong way to look at it. Paul the Apostle wrote, “What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!” (Romans 6:15) No way! Jesus knows your heart. Do not take advantage of being under grace. Being under grace is the best blessing that The Lord has bestowed upon us. But, DO NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!! The Lord knows when you take advantage of being under grace. I myself choose the wrong road so many times. But, do I really like it? NO! I don’t! I would give anything to get rid of this wicked sin that lives inside of me. Do not sin rule your life. Your foundation, as a Christian, is in the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
Now, if you are truly dedicated to The Lord Jesus and his righteousness, then Paul the Apostle wrote something that will put you in the right frame of mind. But remember, do not, and I mean, DO NOT!!!!! take advantage of what Paul wrote. He writes, “As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.” (Romans 7:17) So, it is sin that lives within us that makes us do what we hate to do, even if we get enjoyment out of it. If you truly repent, you will still sin, but only The Lord and yourself will know if your heart is true in it’s repentance. Turning away from sin is not easy. This is the struggle with sin. We all struggle with it. So, if you are truly struggling with an issue, or several, in your life, The Lord knows your heart. He knows that you hate what you do.
I, personally, am guilty of a lot of sin in my life. It is wickedness. But, The Lord knows my heart. He knows I am trying to break bad habits in my life. There are some things that I just cannot shake. But, that does not mean that I give up on trying to shake it off. By no means! Let the Holy Spirit do it’s divine work in your heart. Yes, it’s a struggle. It’s a spiritual battle. But, don’t lose that battle! Many Christians go back to their old ways, and I’m not talking about sinning. I’m talking about not having Christ as the foundation in their lives. I’m talking about doing an about face from Jesus Christ as the center of their lives. Don’t give up! Jesus knows you are struggling, but He does not want to lose you! You are his precious child. He loves you. He knows you are weak, but don’t give up on Him!
May the Lord Jesus Christ be with you always, Mike
