Jesus already knew he was going to bring us back to God from the beginning of time.

Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity (Jesus) between you (Satan) and the woman (a slave of Satan), and between your offspring (sin & eternal death) and hers (human beings); he will crush your head (resurrection) and you will strike his heel (defeat of Satan).” In other words, God sent Jesus (who is the flesh form of God) to bring us back to a personal relationship with him.

Jeremiah was a prophet. A prophet is a human being whom God chooses to reveal future events to. Jeremiah wrote his book around the year 586 B.C. So, what does this mean? B.C. is before the time of Jesus Christ. Jesus was born around 3 A.D. or so. So, approximately 586 years before Jesus was even born in the flesh, Jeremiah wrote about him. The passage is below:

Jeremiah 31:31-34 “The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant (through the blood of Jesus Christ) with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their fore fathers (The Ten Commandments) when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was husband to them, declares the Lord. This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my law in their minds (pure thoughts) and write it on their hearts (Holy Spirit). I will be their God, and they will be my people (through faith in Jesus). No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother saying ‘Know the Lord’, because they will all know me (through faith), from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

Another prophet by the name of Isaiah wrote more specific information about Jesus’ coming. He wrote around the time of 680 B.C. 680 years before Jesus stepped foot on earth! The passage is below:

Isaiah 53:3 “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions (crucified), he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Imagine someone predicting what will happen in the future, even a month in advance! Jeremiah and Isaiah predicted the coming of Jesus six to seven hundred years before he even came to earth!

In conclusion, you must acknowledge that Jesus actually existed and was not some fictitious character. This is no fairy tale. These things actually happened.

If this doesn’t get you, look at these other situations that were prophesized in the Old Testament that actually happened to Jesus.

1. His virgin birth Isaiah 7:14 2. His place of birth Micah 5:2 3. Return from Egypt Hosea 11:1 4. Healings Isaiah 53:4 5. Servanthood Isaiah 42:1-4 6. Use of parables Psalm 78:2 7. Entering Jerusalem Zecharaiah 9:9 8. Jesus rejected Psalm 118:22 9. Jesus and the cross Psalm 69:21, 22:18, 22:7, 22:8, 22:1 10. Jesus and his burial Isaiah 53:9

And, there are many more! From being betrayed for 30 pieces of silver to the resurrection!
