I just received a phone call from the Board of Public Education. They told me that I am going to teach in Lincoln Elementary School. In my mind, I said, “WHAT!?”. This is one of the valleys of the shadow of death in the public school system here where I live. I said to my hiring officer, “Oh! Okay, no problem.” I had no choice in the matter. It was the only available elementary school left. I couldn’t go to a middle or high school because my swimming certification was expired, and I didn’t have time to get it in order to have a chance at a middle or high school.

Here’s the point. The Lord knows what you can handle. If you obey his commands, that is, by not worrying about future events, and even present, and allowing the Holy Spirit reign in you, you WILL end up victorious! If the Lord is putting you into a situation that you say to yourself, “WHAT!? There’s no WAY I’ll be able to handle this!”, it’s another way of him saying to you, “The reason why I’m putting you into this situation is because I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! You have my Spirit living within you. Therefore, you will know that I am with you through thick and thin. You will be the bright-morning star. People will see me through you.” He knows and has confidence in us when we don’t have confidence in ourselves. He knows you can do it. HE IS LORD!

If you are going through a situation like this, have no fear. The Lord IS with you. When you walk into the valley of the shadow of death, he will be right there with you, inside of you, making SURE that you get through. You will walk through the fire and not be burned. I know, it’s difficult to swallow this. But, listen, strive to understand this and live this! When you are in a situation, ask the Lord, “What do you want me to do?” He will let you know. He will guide you. Don’t be afraid. Of course we will feel some anxiety and fear, but his yoke is light! Just think how you would feel if you didn’t have his yoke! With his peace intertwining with your fear and anxiety, it is not that bad. Let his peace swim into your anxiety and fear. His peace is like living water. Let the water flow into your flesh. It’s a mixing process. The more you allow his peace to swim into your anxiety and fear (and whatever else you are feeling), the more you will be comforted. This makes Him feel better too! This will give you more potential to love and serve others, which is the Greatest Commandment!
