"The colon isn't a body part?"
I hear this question each year at the start of our puncutation unit.
The website, Guide to Grammar & Writing, provides
thorough explanations, quizzes, and Power Point
presentations appropiate for the 7 - 12 classroom.
The Power Point presentations serve to awaken student
interest in what might otherwise become a boring
lecture.  If a student misses the in-class
presentation, no need to worry!  The student may view
the Power Point presentation upon return to class.

The lonely colon must feel as if it is one of the most misunderstood and
misused mark of punctutation.
For a better understanding of what a colon is and when to use it, go to
Guide to Grammar & Writing.
Scroll down to Periphials & PowerPoints.
Click on drop-down window.
Scroll down to and click on
The Colon: Sentence Gateway

Upon completion of the Power Point presentation go to
