| YORK MEMORIAL C.I. PRESENTS T H E S P A N I S H C L U B |
| During the year 2002-2003, spanish students decided to encourage spanish festivities and culture throughout York Memorial by introducing the Spanish Club. This club brought many students together by introducing various activities and cultural experiences. As well, this club recognized the spanish community in the school. In order for this club to be successful, students put together a proposal, along with the help of Mrs. Teunissen to help promote this club. Since then, the club has been a success, fundraising money for the school's (very low) budget and for the club to do activities. Such activities that were held by the Spanish Club were: Latin Day, where a variety of food like tacos, pasteles (enpanadas) and tamales were sold in the cafeteria; Spanish music was play live in the cafeteria where spanish students danced; the Spanish Dance Club, which was help in the lower gym so that interested students can learn to bachata, cumbia, salsa, and merengue; also YMCI's Spanish Club participated in last year's talent show. |
