1) One paragraph summary of the key idea summarizing the major idea of the section

The major idea concerned with our Theology class the past two or so weeks has been faith. According to Catholicism, Faith means "an intellectual assent to a loving God and His revelation."(RBp.92) This idea is what our religion is and should be based on. There are a few types of philosophy that go against the idea of Faith. Nihilism, the denial of truth, believes in reason but not beliefs. Another is radicalism, the belief in something without evidence and even when contradicting evidence is presented. Radicalism believes in beliefs but not reason. Another example of faith in our study this section is St. Ignatius Loyola. St. Ignatius was a gambling, womanizing, semi-soldier who shattered his leg during the Battle of Pamplona. During his recovery, he read Life of Christ and Lives of the Saints and went under a metanoia, the change of heart and mind from the view of the world and society, to love, kindess and compassion. St. Ignatius went on to become a priest in 1588 and to found a Catholic order totally dedicated to the betterment of others, the Society of Jesus.

2) List and explain three of the most important ideas you want to remember from this week.

     a) The first idea I would like to remember is one of the key teachings of St. Ignatius. He taught that the ultimate sin is pride and the ultimate virtue is glory. I think it is important to remember this because in today's society, we are told that ways to be cool are by having money, power, and flashiness. But Ignatius tells us that we should not follow that path and instead we should live our lives in plainess and in modesty.

     b) The second idea I would like to remember is to distinguish between capital "F" Faith and lowercase "f" faith. Faith with a capital "F" is the total belief in God while lowercase faith is the belief and trust in someone or something. This is a big difference and confusing the capitalization would mean confusing the meaning.

     c) The third idea I would like to remember is to realize Faith is not a simple walk in the park to God. As Catholics, we beleive blind Faith, the belief in God with nothing to support it, is a bad thing. This is why God forces us to grow in Faith before we can get to Him. We are forced to work through the difficulties that come with Faith in order to get to God.

4) One good question you should keep with you to ponder.

Do I have a strong Faith? Is it as strong as God thinks it should be? What can I do to strengthen it?

5) What should you try to do to make you a better person, a more faithful person, from this study?

In order to be a better person I need to remember that Faith is a struggle and a risk. Sometimes I feel that doing the good thing is jsut too hard. That is when I need to realize that it is a struggle that gives good rewards. If I tell myself that a few times a day I will be a better person.
