If you can't afford going everywhere by taxis and want to experience the thrill of catching a bus it could be better to have 2 maps one in English and one in Chinese. Then you can easier find the places of interest by just showing the driver the Chinese map with the place marked on it. You can use the English map to wander around the town, since most street signs are written in Chinese caracters and in Pinyin (Chinese words written in phonetic transcription) and so are the streets names on the English map. You can buy one in a shop by the Lake or at the Foreign Language Book Store which is also situated close to the Lake. |
