Pagoda on the Wu Shan Square

One of my favourite places is a pogoda which
stands on a hill next to the Wu Shan Square.

You can get there from Yan'an Road by
bus No. 8. It was built not that long ago and
that is why it is made of steel instead of wood
like traditional pagodas. You can take a lift
to the 5th floor and then climb stairs to the
6th floor. From there you can see a wonderful
panorama on the lake, nearby hills and the
city itself. Unfortunately sometimes it is difficult
to see anything due to smog.  When you finally
decide to get down, you can stop on each floor.

On the 3rd floor is a tea- house where
people enjoy tea, playing games and
listening to traditional Chinese music.

2nd floor offers a nice trip through history
presented on beutiful paintings. From the
balcony take a look on the carvings on the wall
opposite presenting legendary creation of
Hangzhou. There were 2 dragons fighting in
the air over the lake. One of them dropped a
pearl which fell into the lake and created the city.

On the 1st floor there is a nice exhibition
of old Hangzhou. You can see a very detailed
model of the city as it was  years ago, when
there was emperors palace in the town.
Also Wu Shan Square is very interesting.
Every week there are concerts people can listen
to, also every day there is a big market where
you can buy exactly everything.

Next to the Square is an old fashion
street. Its renovation finished in Oct. 2002.
It is worth visiting more for the shopping purpose
than siteseeing.
