Blackstarr
Real Name: Rachael Berkowitz.
History: Rachael Berkowitz was born a Jewish child in Eastern Europe, and taken to Auschwitz by the Nazis. There, she was separated from her mother, but eventually worked her way into the confidence of the camp commander. She came to believe her mother and her people were themselves to blame for their plight, and became a dedicated Nazi. When the war was over, Rachael emigrated to America, where she became a brilliant science student and eventually unlocked the secret of the Unified Field Theory, the workings of which somehow endowed her with vast cosmic powers. Blackstarr later appeared to head a neo-Nazi movement, but was eventually defeated by Supergirl in a fight in the heart of the universe, by being trapped between twin black holes. Blackstarr later reappeared during the Crisis on Infinite Earths to fight Supergirl and Superman, only to wind up helping overcome a spatial distortion effect, and then mysteriously vanish.
Known Powers: Blackstarr has complete control over all the fundamental forces of the universe; gravity, electromagnetism, and the strong and weak nuclear forces. She can sense changes in the fields of those forces nearby, to an unknown, but likely great distance. She's been shown to use her powers to create various energy blasts, use massive gravity to slow down local time, create black holes at will, reverse an effect shrinking the spatial dimensions, shift objects into alternate dimensions through the use of black holes, fly, teleport by means of dimensional warps, manipulate photons and other particles, enlarge sub-atomic particles and use them as a battering weapon, create a barrage of quasar energy and spinning balls of super-compacted matter, use gravitational forces to repulse enemies, manipulate foes by means of changing the power of gravity and electromagnetic fields, hold super-strong enemies dead stuck by use of the gravity of black holes, and negate super-speed greater than lightspeed. Blackstarr also has an incredible level of durability and the ability to change her physical form as she wishes.
Appearances: Daring New Adventures of Supergirl #13, #14, and #15; DC Comics Presents #86.
