Baseball was actually the first organized sport that I was involved in. I was watching Major League Baseball on the black & white screen from the age of 4, and fell in love with the excitement of this favorite national past time event. I remember watching the Yankees play with the antics of "Dizzy" Dean and "Peewee" Reese. How colorfull they were on the air as I was entertained mainly by the down to earth, play by play, and the singing of "Dizzy". I was fortunate to witness some all time great baseball players like, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Yoggi Berra, Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, and many more. I tried to copy every detail of their games, and any of them could have easily been my idiol, but none were. My biggest idiol was my first coach, my mentor, my buddy, and my dad (William "Bub" Aston).

| He taught me the rules, the basics, how to win, and the biggest lesson of all, how to be a sportsman. He knew how to get the most out of me, and I certainly had a thirst for the knowledge he gave out. I will never forget the unselfish way that he gave of himself, and the determination to attend all events that I participated in all my life. My two biggest fans, my mother, and my father, rarely missed anything that I was apart of, even to this day. I am very fortunate to have such wonderful parents, and owe lots to. |
