The Negative
Fire destroyed our tangible memories
And you, on that fateful winters day,
Nothing is left to remind me of
The happiness and love that we shared.

Our life together became scattered ashes
Tossed away by the windlike leaves,
Im so lost without you beside me
Your face a hazy image in my minds eye.

At my parents house up in the attic
I wander through the maze of stored memories,
Lives hidden in a menagerie of cardboard
Good times and bad cosseted away.

Sifting through boxes of forgotten dreams
I pluck a single negative from the tangle,
Raising it to the light to glimpse the scene
Its YOU, and my world is renewed again
