In My Life
Her twilight years have come and gone
Her body frail and small
Her memories still fresh in mind
Her youthful heart still calls

Her children have long since left the nest
Their children have children of their own
Her Dear Husband went to his early rest
Leaving her all alone...

She sits on her own in her hospice room
Reminiscing when she was young
The gloom around her fading fast
As images return one by one

In my life, she remembers fondly
Ive had many wonderful things
The love of my life, a home and family
And the joy that these gifts bring

Now that my time is nearing its end
I feel blessed for what Ive had
My life has been filled with happiness
And for that I am eternally glad

She closes her eyes and smiles wearily
Her tired thoughts beckoning sleep
Her husband takes her gently by the hand
Now, she is his to keep
