Bloodlust
Hovering above a city filled with life,
I linger in the shadows, sitting on the rooftop
Observing them,
Needing their mortality.
Humans, wandering like cattle along the street,
The sanguine fluid in their veins
Drawing me outside the sanctity of my abode.
For many nights I have abstained,
The hunger beckoning me
To seek a necessary release.

I must not succumb to the calling of Blood,
The intense desire weakening my resolve.
Luring me into humanity,
Seeking solace in its warmth.
I have travelled to the brink of declaring defeat,
Removing the restrictions placed upon myself
Surrendering to the craving for the elixir of life.
A cunning placebo
Creating an illusion
Of being mortal through immortality.

The lust for bloodthe red wine of existence,
Too strong to comprehend, it drives me insane
With a ferocious hunger
Knowing my weakness.
Intoxicatingits perfume lingers on the breeze,
Calling to me to fulfil my burning need
Yearning to snatch a soul to replenish my own,
But I cannot give in
Must not give in
Or else I will be lost to its control.
