Myotismon's Heir Chapter 5
Once again, I left you guys with a
cliffhanger. I guess you want be to tell you what happens
next, huh? Okay. Well, as you remember, we left our heros
in the middle of a battle against a fierce enemy.....
Chapter Five
***Angewomon***
The girl laughed evilly, and something in that laugh was
familiar. It frightened me as I remembered who that laugh
belonged to. I ignored the feeling and fitted an arrow
onto my bowstring.
"Celestial Arrow!" I shouted, and let the arrow
fly.
The girl's hooded face turned to look at me, and I caught
a glance of emerald green eyes before she gracefully
moved out of the way of my arrow. She purposely didn't
move enough it get out of the way of the arrow, she moved
just enough so the arrow snagged the side of her hood,
ripping the entire thing off. The light reveiled eyes
full of hatred.
I gasped, the hair, those eyes! I shook my head, NO!! It
couldn't be!
The girl smiled evilly as she watched me in emotional
pain, "So," she hissed, and I knew I was the
only one who heard her words. "You do remember me,
you haven't forgotten what I did for you when you were
Salamon. And I haven't forgotten what you did to my
father, either."
I let out another gasp, I couldn't hurt her, I couldn't!
After all she'd done for me....I just couldn't. With a
flash of light, I De-Digivolved back to Gatomon and fell
into Kari's arms.
***Kari***
"Gatomon!" I shouted, and caught the falling
cat in my arms. "What's the matter, did she hit
you?"
Gatomon nodded, her eyes never leaving the girl's face,
eyes filled with pain. "Yeah, she did Kari. Not
physically, but she's opened an old wound that I doubt
will heal for a while. I can't fight her, I can fight
anyone, anyone but her."
I nodded and turned my attention back to the fight, the
other Digimon had tried their attacks, but all the girl
had done was block them. She had't attacked at all. I now
noticed how pretty she was; her hair was super thick and
a honey-brown color, she had it tied back in a braid. Her
eyes were a peircing emerald green, and her entire face
was flawless. How could someone so beautiful turn evil?
'Stupid question' I thought, 'Anyone can turn evil if
they have the right motivation!'
The girl smiled as the four newest Digimon took their
turn.
"Ice Needles!" Penguinmon shouted, her feathers
turning into stiff needles and shooting straight at the
girl.
Nothing, she held up her cape and the needles fell
harmlessly to the ground.
"Volcanic Strike!" Monochomon shouted, and a
beam of red light went straight for the girl.
She made it look like a child's game as she demolished
it.
"Slamming Tusk!" Tuskmon screamed, and charged
for her at full speed.
She moved out of the way and Tuskmon hit a tree,
De-Digivolving back to Gazimon.
A.J. rushed over to his injured friend, "You
alright, Gazimon?" he asked. Gazimon nodded.
Kuwagamon was the only one who hadn't attacked, so now
was his chance. "Scissor Claw!"
The girl's head snapped up, "Grisly Wing!" she
shouted, pointing both her arms at us. Her cape flew up
and made it seem as though she had bat wings. A large
cloud of bats appeared out of nowhere and flew toward us.
I screamed in horror as the bats surrounded me, and I
heard the others do the same as bats flocked around them
also.
***Jordan***
I watched in horror as Digimon after Digimon couldn't
leave a stratch on the girl. Tai had told me what a Mega
Digimon could do with one attack, but both WarGreymon or
MetalGarurumon couldn't do a thing!
A second later I was enveloped by a black cloud of bats,
making it impossible to see anything. I heard Jessica
scream near me, and I tried to find her. I bumped into
her and shoved her to the ground.
"Keep down!" I told her.
"Alright!" She yelled back.
"Ice Needles!"
"Volcanic Blast!"
I felt the bats around me and Jessica disappear. I stood
up and looked around, Penguinmon and Monochomon ran over
to us.
"Are you all right?" Penguinmon asked Jessica
while helping her off the ground, she nodded.
"Yeah, I'm alright." She answered, "A
little out of breath, maybe, but I'm alright."
"Pepper Breath!" Agumon used his attack to help
Tai, and the other Digimon did the same.
After we'd killed the bats, (which only took a couple
seconds,) we turned our attention back to the girl.
She looked amused, "You're not tired, are you?"
she asked in a mocking tone. "For I've only just
begun!"
Tai glared at her. "We're ready for you!" He
shouted, "Give us your best shot!"
The girl smiled, "Very well, I like your attitude.
So I will give you one of my best shots! I'm sure you
haven't forgotten this one: Crimson Lighting!"
She put her hand out infront of her and a glowing red
whip appeared in it. She pulled the whip up to her face
and then snapped it in Tai's direction!
"Ahh!!" Tai screamed in pain as the searing hot
whip cut his shoulder and returned to the girl's fist.
"Tai!" Sora screamed. She ran over to Tai and
wrapped her arm around his waist to help him keep his
balance. "Are you alright?" She asked him.
Tai nodded weakly, "I'm alright, Sora." he
said. "Don't worry about me, worry about the others
and make sure they don't get hurt!"
The girl snorted, "Two Megas, Five Ultimates, and
five measy champions? This is how you challenge me?"
Matt looked around, "Five Champions?!" he
asked, "Why isn't Gatomon in her Ultimate
form?"
Kari looked at Gatomon, who shook her head sadly,
"Gatomon can't battle, Matt!" I heard her yell
back.
"Nightmare Claw!" We heard the girl yell, and
we were all hit with a huge black beam.
"AHH!!!" We all screamed in agony, and when the
dust settled, all twenty-four of us were stattered on the
ground, unable to rise. I looked around at the others,
most of us were wasted! Our Digimon had all De-Digivolved
back to their Rookie stages.
The girl's eyebrows raised, "This is the power of
the Digidestined I've heard so much about? What a
joke!"
she smiled evilly, "Well, Digidestined, it's time
for me to take my leave, but we will meet again."
There was a puff of smoke, and then both her and her
companion were gone.
***Tai***
It was two hours since the girl attacked, and we were all
pretty sore from the Nightmare Claw. Joe, Sora, Mimi and
Jessica weren't hurt that bad, so they moved through the
group, bandaging wounds. Out of all twelve Digimon, only
Salamon had been able to Digivolve, and that was only
back to Gatomon.
"Are you sure you're okay, Tai?" Asked Sora,
wrapping my still bleeding shoulder in gauze.
"Yeah, I'm okay." I smiled weakly at Sora's
concern, but winced as the gauze touched my shoulder.
"Gatomon, why didn't you battle?" Asked Kari,
lifting up swollen her foot so Joe could bandage it.
Gatomon sighed, "It's a long story, Kari. But I
guess I have to let it out someday."
"Then tell it!" Matt told her, sitting up
slowly as Jessica bandaged his chest. He had been thrown
into a boulder when we were hit with the Nighmare Claw
and was cut up pretty bad.
"Lay down!" Jessica told him in a quiet but
firm voice. "I've told you not to move, you'll make
it bleed again."
"Sorry," Matt muttered, and lay down again.
I smiled as Sora moved on to Izzy, who had cuts and
bruises all over his body. It seemed as if Jessica and
Matt were pretty good friends. I still was a bit confused
about how they met, though.
"You guys are lucky you got those wounds in the
Digiworld." Agumon said, "The air here
heals."
"You all know how I was brought up all alone in the
Digiworld, and no one was nice to me, right?"
Gatomon asked as soon as Agumon had stopped speaking.
We all nodded.
"Well, forget I told you that. It was a lie. After I
turned into Salamon and started searcing for Kari, I met
Myotismon. And he had a daughter about Kari's age. Her
name was Sara, and she was my only friend in the entire
Digiworld. We played together everyday after her studies,
and she argued with Myotismon every time he took me to
training. I was only of her only friends too, something
about her made the other Digimon sorta cold around her,
but I never figured out why."
Mimi looked up from Jordan's knee. He'd been smashed into
a tree. "Is that the girl we just fought?" She
asked.
Gatomon nodded, "It must be. No other Digimon I've
ever seen has that honey-brown hair and green eyes.
Everyone said she was the most beautiful Digimon they'd
ever seen. But that didn't change how they felt about
her. Anyway, she was different back then, she was always
happy and hated to fight."
"What!" A.J. asked, "Did you see what she
did to us?" He raised his sprained arm, which had
been sprained when he hit the ground. I was surprised his
nose didn't get broken. "You call her a person who
hates to fight!? She practically murdered us!"
Gatomon sighed, "I know, I wish I knew what was the
matter with her. But let me show you all something,
something I've never shown anyone but Sara."
Gatomon took off one of her gloves, reveiling a large
scar in the shape of a X. "If it wasn't for Sara,
this scare probably'd be twice as big as it is now. She
knew all the best remedies for that kind of stuff. Every
time she found her father beating me she'd throw herself
in front on me screaming 'Don't hurt Salamon, daddy!
Please don't!' and everytime he stopped. Then she'd carry
me up to her room and nurse my wounds."
"Do you know who that guy who was with her is?"
I asked, and Gatomon shook her head.
"No, I've never seen him before. Sara only had one
other friend other then me, but he was a Wisardmon. She
called him Peter, and she named his two sisters and his
brother so she didn't get them mixed up."
Joe raised his hand, "But if she was only eight, how
could she be our age now? Couldn't it be her older sister
that we just fought?"
Izzy stopped flexing his newly wrapped wrist to look at
Joe. "Joe, don't you remember? Time flows
differently here then it does on Earth. A couple days on
Earth is about four years in Digiworld. So she'd have to
be our age."
Joe blushed, "Oh, yeah. I forgot."
***Matt***
Jessica tied the last strip of gauze tightly around my
waist. The blood seeped through a little but she firmly
pressed her hand on the cut to stop the bleeding. It
worked. Then she took my shirt and pulled it back down.
As she took her hand away, I grabbed it with my own.
"What are you, some kind of angel?" I asked her
quietly, so the other couldn't hear the comment. I
vaugely saw A.J. glare at my out of the corner of my eye,
I smiled, let him.
Jessica blushed and shook her head, her hair shimmering
in the firelight. "No, I'm human. I just want to
help." She stood up and I let her hand go. "Now
I'd better go help Jacob, his arm's pretty bruised."
I nodded, "Sure, I'll talk to you later."
She smiled, "I'll hold you to that, Matt."
She walked off to Jacob's side, but glanced back and me
and smiled again.
I felt my stomach flip over. Was it just my stomach
adjusting to the tight gauze, or was it Jessica? I shook
my head, probably just the gauze.
A.J. moved over to me, careful not to move his arm that
much.
"Listen, Matt." He hissed in my ear, "What
did I tell you earlier? Leave Jessica alone, don't get
too friendly or you'll have to deal with me."
I laughed, but then stopped as soon as I started,
laughing hurt my stomach. "What's that supossed to
mean? All I said to her was 'thank you'. So what's your
problem?"
A.J. sneered, "It's not what you said, but how you
said it."
I shrugged, 'What's his problem?' I thought.
A.J. moved back to his orginal spot and I forgot about
him.
***Jessica***
Was something wrong with me? My stomach wasn't feeling
that good, but it was probably just the battle and the
deep gory, and bloody cuts that pretty much everyone got.
I escaped without that much damage, but the others
weren't so lucky.
"Jessica, that hurts!" Jacob whined, tears
welling up in his eyes.
I tried to smile as I dabbed the damp cloth on Jacob's
scraped and bruised arm. "I know, Jacob. But it's
for your own good. You don't want this to get infected,
do you?"
Jacob shook his head, "No..." he said quietly.
I finished washing the cuts and wringed the cloth into a
small bowl.
"There," I said, patting his shoulder lightly,
"Now don't get it dirty again, maybe I should wrap
it."
Jacob smiled, "Cool! Wrap it!"
I laughed inwardly at my brothers excitement of getting
his arm wrapped. "Alright, but I can't do it too
tight."
"Okay, people." Tai said a moment later,
"It's time to hit the sack. But since we have Sara
to look out for, I'm setting up a watch. Each pair will
stand watch for two hours: Sora and I are taking the
first one, then A.J. and Jordan. Mimi, I want you to go
with Kari after them. T.K.; you're with Jacob after Mimi.
Matt, you can take watch with Jessica, and Joe and Izzy
will finish up the night. Everybody got that?"
We all nodded, and I couldn't help but notice A.J.'s face
turning a slight purple. I grinned, Jordan should be able
to keep him under control for two hours.
Tai clapped his hands together, "Alright then, get
to bed you guys, you'll need your rest. I want each pair
of people to lie back to back with the person that they
are going to go on watch with. That way, when we wake up
the next two people for their turn for watch, no one will
have a cold breeze at their backs. Digimon will sleep at
the heads and feet like they've always done. Got
it?"
We all nodded again, and got up to find good places to
sleep. I followed Matt over to a nice spot near the
fire-but not too near it-and we laid down to sleep.
I took off my back-pack and used it as a pillow, and felt
the warmth of Matt's back against my own, my cheeks
flushed. 'What's wrong with me?' I thought.
"Goodnight, Jessica." Matt said, his voice
sounding slightly nervous.
"Goodnight, Matt." I murmered, and fell asleep.
***Sora***
I remained sitting as the others got up and moved to
various spots to sleep. They were all in dream land in a
matter of minutes.
Tai came over and sat next to me, poking the fire with a
stick. He favored his shoulder a bit, but it was healing
quickly.
"It's a good thing Digimon attack wounds heal fast.
If not, I don't know when I'd be able to move my arm
again!"
"Why'd you pair Matt with Jessica?" I asked
him, placing my head on his good shoulder. "I didn't
understand that, why didn't you put her with me so Matt
could take first watch with you?"
Tai stopped poking the fire, "Well, I don't really
know. I felt like I should, they seem to know each other
okay, so I thought it would be better to put them
together then put Jessica with some one she didn't
know." he smiled. "And anyway, I wanted to take
first watch with you."
I blushed, "So you only did it because they knew
each other and you wanted to spend two hours alone with
me?"
Tai nodded, "Yep. That's it. But I think Matt and
Jessica have something else in common, but I can't put a
finger on it. They keep on sending each other these
hidden glances."
I started to laugh hysterically. "Hidden
glances?" I asked, muffing the laughter when I saw
the others stir.
Tai looked at me, "Yeah, you know what that
means?"
I shook my head violently, and crossed my fingures behind
my back. "No, I don't. And even if I did, I woudn't
tell anybody, not even you." Inwardly, I made a
mental note to tell Mimi the second I could get her
alone. Somethings you couldn't tell a boy, even if he was
your boyfriend.
"So, what do you think of the new kids?" I
asked.
Tai looked thoughtful. "Well, Jessica's alright.
Jordan's and Jacob are okay, too. It's A.J. who bothers
me..."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I don't know. Just something about him..."
Our conversation stayed on the same subject for the rest
of our shift. Then we got up and woke A.J. and Jordan for
theirs.
***A.J.***
I growled deep in my throat when I woke up. The first
thing I saw was Jessica back to back with Matt. That
thief, how dare he.
"Alright, you guys okay?" Tai asked, "
'Cause Sora and I'll be heading to bed now, okay?"
Jordan nodded, "Sure, we'll try to stay up. Sleep
well, you two."
Jordan sat on the ground and poked the fire with a stick.
"So, what do you think of the Digiworld?" He
asked after Tai and Sora had fallen asleep.
I shook my head, "How should I know? We've only been
here a day, that's not much time to think."
Jordan shrugged and plucked a piece of grass out of the
ground. He stuck the tip of it in his mouth and chewed on
it. Nothing was said in the next ten minutes.
"What do you think of the Digiworld?" I asked
when the ten minutes were up.
Jordan threw the now very chewed up peice of grass into
the fire and started to rub his injured knee before
answering.
"I think it's okay. Can't wait until those pictures
get devolped, though. They're gonna be awesome!"
I smiled at him, "You're crazy, you know that? I
can't believe you took pictures during the battle!"
Jordan laughed, "Well, Josh said he wanted pictures
of strange creatures, so I took some pictures of the
Digimon. And I had to get a picture of that girl Sara. So
I can remember what she looked like after we turn her
into Digidust!"
"So, you really think we can pull this off?" I
asked.
"Well, sure! If Tai and the others could destory all
of those over evil Digimon, why can't we destory one
girl?"
"Well, you're right. I can't wait 'till we get our
very own Crests. I wonder what they'll mean?"
Jordan thought a moment. "Well, Tai said Gennia said
that the Crests reflected the strongest feeling in
ourselfs. So I guess your's would mean Annoyingness. Or
maybe Retardedness."
I grabbed a small stick with my good arm and threw it at
him jokingly as we laughed. I missed.
A couple minutes later, Jordan sighed. "Too bad Jess
wasn't up. I'm in the mood for 'The Storyteller' to get
into her mood and tell a good one."
I smiled, "Is she still writing them all down?"
Jordan nodded, "Yeah, Abby makes her do it, so that
she can read all the ones she wasn't there to hear."
"Should we wake her up?" I asked, mischive
gleaming in my eyes.
Jordan shook his head forcefully. "No way. We should
let her sleep. Maybe she'll tell one tomorrow, when we're
all awake."
