Myotismon's Heir

Chapter Nineteen

Day Twenty-three

***Jacob***

Man, that Katy was something! I still can't believe she got into my head and

woke me up like that! And she's actually my Guardian! I have a Guardian! But

I'd promised Katy not to tell anyone, so I kept my promise and kept my mouth

shut.

But something was missing. Something in my head. It's like I remembered that

I'd forgotten something, but I couldn't remember what I'd forgotten.

"And now we're building a cabin so we'll be dry when it rains!" T.K. said,

ending the story of what'd happened while I'd been gone. "It's gonna have two

floors and like seven rooms! A bedroom for the girls, a bedroom for the boys,

a kitchen and a dining room! And there'll be a meeting room and a bathroom

and a sick room, where we'll keep the people who're sick."

I grinned. "Awesome! And we have an oven too, right? So we have bread?"

Kari nodded. "Not the nice, fluffy loaves that we're used to at home." She

said. "More like pieta bread. We don't have any yeast top make it get big."

I shrugged. "We have bread, don't we? It's something different to eat!"

We talked a bit more, until Jessica came over holding a cup filled with some

steaming liquid, probably the tea. Cups? When'd we get cups?! I must've been

gone for a while!

What was missing? I needed to know!

"Jessica, how long have I been.....gone?" I asked, unsure if that was the

right was to word it. I just wanted to know how long I'd been.....whatever

I'd been the past days.

Jessica stopped and thought a moment. "Jacob, you weren't asleep. You've been

in a coma for the past five days and that girl woke you up." She frowned.

"She also fished you, Jordan, Matt and A.J. out of the water during the

battle with MarineDevimon. It appears she's like your guardian angel or

something."

I grinned, little did Jessica know how close she was to guessing the truth.

"Guardian angel? Come on, Jessica! We're in the Digiworld! There's no

such things as guardian angels!" 'But there are such things as Guardian

Digimon.' I added silently to myself.

I still wondered what was missing. It seemed so strong, I just wish I could

remember! Something to do about Sara.....

Jessica smiled softly and tilted the cup so I could drink the tea. It wasn't

really 'hot' hot, but it was warm and it made me real good inside. "What

flavor is it?" I asked after the cup had been drained. "It's good!"

"It's 100% natural peach flavoring." She said with a grin. "Freshly squeezed

just moments by Yours Truly and stirred in bubbling hot water by the princess

of pink: Mimi Tachikawa!" She sounded like a sales person! We all laughed,

all except my no-nonsense Digimon Kunamon.

"Really Jessica." Kunamon scolded. "Twelve years old and still acting like a

child! You haven't forgotten you are a Digidestined, have you?"

What was missing?....Something about Sara and us.....

Jessica shook her head. "No, Kunamon. I haven't forgotten " She leaned over

and rubbed Kunamon's head playfully. "But I have my brother back and I'm in a

happy mood! You can't always be serious!" Jessica laughed happily, gave me a

quick hug and T.K. and Kari an affectionate pat before joining the older

kids. I saw her go over to Jordan and lean her head on his shoulder. He

smiled and hugged her.

"Your sister's the coolest!" Kari said with a big grin. "I wish she'd marry

Tai, so then she could be my older sister and you'd be my brother!"

The thing that was missing.....Sara and us....the future.....

T.K. frowned. "But's already got Sora as his girlfriend. Boy's can't have two

girlfriends, can they?"

"Not really." I said. "They can, but they're only supposed to have one." I

turned to Kari. "Don't you want Sora as an older sister?"

Kari sighed. "Sora's okay, but I still think Jessica'd make a better older

sister then Sora."

T.K. and I grinned. "Well, I think Jessica's gonna marry Matt." T.K. said

confidently. "Matt doesn't have a girlfriend yet and he seems to like Jessica

a real lot!" He looked over to where the older kids were working on cutting

up the logs for the third wall. Jessica and Matt were working on a log

together with their Digimon. "See? They're always together!"

I frowned. No, they were wrong. I'd realized what'd been missing. I used to

know the future! What would happen to Sara and us! And now I couldn't

remember anything except something about..........

***T.K.***

"See?" I asked as I pointed. "They're always together!"

Kari pouted. "That may be so, but I still think she and Tai make a better

match."

Then Jacob laughed. "I can't believe I just wake up from a coma and you guys

are arguing over my sister!" He said with a shake of his head. "Just let me

end it all with my decision, okay?"

Me and Kari thought it over a bit, but then we both nodded. "Sure thing,

Jake!" I said.

Jacob grinned. "All right. I bet that Jessica falls in love......"

Kari and I burst into laughter. "Him?!" Kari asked, trying to keep her voice

low enough so the older kids couldn't hear. "Are you serious!?!"

I laughed. "Jacob, I think that coma did something to your brain!" I said.

"That'll never happen!"

Jacob only shook his head. "Just you watch.

***Peter, My house***

I stood on the front porch, bags all around me and saying goodbye to my

family.

"Peter, must ye go so soon?" Nick asked, hugging me. May hugged me as well.

"We'll miss ya." She said. "Tell Sara Ah hope she comes back ta visit

with ya again soon."

I nodded. "Yeah, Nick. I have to go now. And May, I'll be sure to tell Sara

that." I looked up from my two younger siblings, only a few inches shorter

then me in their normal bodies, to look at my mother. "Mom?"

Mom moved over to me, while at the same time Nick and May moved away to give

Mom room. "Ye know that I shall miss ye, Peter. Aye, more than ye be knowing.

Be careful and make sure ta give Sara good advice." She lowered her voice so

Nick and May couldn't hear. "Aye, now that she knows that we be Guardians, I

dona doubt that she be on the war path. I dona even doubt that she be

unwillin' ta even let ye back inta the castle. Ye must be very careful."

I nodded. "I know. I'll try not to say the wrong thing."

"Aye. That'd be good." Then she brought her voice back to normal. "If ye see

Katy any time, be sure ta give her all of our love."

I smiled. "Alright. I will."

Mom planted a kiss on my cheek and May and Nick hugged my one last time when

the carriage pulled up and I picked up my bags. "See you all later!" I

started down the walkway and threw my bags inside before climbing in myself.

"Bye!"

***Sara***

Watching from a second story window, I frowned and stroked the Ebon Trist as

I watched the gate open and a carriage roll into the courtyard. Peter was

back. He couldn't be allowed to come back. Now that I knew his sister was

busy in her Guardian duties, my problem had increased. And May and Nick

wouldn't be long to follow, I knew that. I couldn't allow anything to get in

my way, not even the promise I'd made years ago to never attack the Wisardmon

family. If Katy got in my way again, I'd allow my Digimon to attack her. And

if Peter was here, I'd be reminded of the promise I couldn't keep.

I saw Peter come out of the carriage and decided to meet him at the door.

Leaving the window, I took a secret passageway directly to the front door.

"Hello, Peter." I said, closing the passage door so it looked identical to

the walls beside it. "I take it you had a good vacation?"

Peter jumped. "Ah! Sara, I didn't see you there! You startled me."

I smirked. "Well, that certainly hadn't been my intention, Peter. How was

your stay at home? Did you enjoy it?"

Peter nodded. "It was great. May says she hopes you come with me again the

next time I visit. She really loved having you over."

I frowned. "Peter, I....I won't be coming back again."

Peter looked surprised for only a moment, and I was startled to see anger

replace his surprise. "I thought that you'd do something like this." He said,

picking up his bags once again. "Just not as soon as this. You're like that.

You don't let anything get in the way of you getting what you want. Even if

it means turning on the same family that took you in as an orphan."

I scowled. "Oh, as if I knew back then!? As if I knew that the same family

who took me in also protected the same people who murdered my father?!

Really, Peter, you at least could have told me instead of letting me find out

myself at the coronation!"

Peter started to fight back, but I wouldn't allow it. "Out of my house,

Wisardmon! Get out and never return! If you ever as much as set foot on my

property again, I'll have the guards kill you on sight."

***Peter***

I felt more anger towards Sara in that moment then I'd ever felt before in my

life. "Fine." I said. "I'll leave. And I'll be glad to leave this place. I

never liked it here. The whole place reeks of evil and darkness."

Even as I said it, I that Sara was holding the Ebon Trist. That cursed staff

always brought the worst out of people and it fed off evil and darkness Why

hadn't I realized it before? At all the times that Sara'd become angry at me,

It'd been when she'd been holding the Ebon Trist. Silently I swore to destroy

that staff if it killed me.

Taking control of my anger (which I noticed Sara hadn't done yet), I grabbed

my bags and turned to go. "Oh," I said, stopping at the door. "You'll have to

send all the stuff in my room back to my house." I waited to see Sara's

reaction, but she, still trembling with anger, only nodded. I left.

"Bring me back home." I told the Bakemon as I climbed back into the carriage.

"Wisardmon are no longer welcome here."

The Bakemon clicked his tongue and shook the reigns, making the ShimaUnimon

start into a trot. ShimaUnimon are exactly like Unimon except they have no

wings and are striped like a zebra, so they make good carriage horses. "Man,

I'm sorry to hear that. What'd the Mistress get mad about?" Bakemon asked,

not really curious but actually interested in my dilemma.

This happened to be the same Bakemon who had been the one to bring Sara the

news of Myotismon's death while she'd been stayed at my house. Even though

he'd sworn allegiance to Sara's family, I knew he didn't agree with her about

the Digidestined. I could trust this Bakemon.

"You see Bakemon, you know that my family guards the Digidestined, right?"

Bakemon nodded. "Sure. I actually snuck in to see the coronation of the

little ones!"

I was surprised. "Really? Wow, thanks. That means a lot to me. But that's

besides the point. You see," I faltered a bit. "Sara kinda forgot that we

were Guardians, and so...." I didn't have to finish.

"Ah, I understand." Bakemon said with a nod. "Maybe she'll get over it."

I shook my head. "No, I don't think she'll get over it this time, Bakemon."

We pulled up in front of my house a half hour later, and I stepped out to see

a shocked May and Nick in the yard. Mom was on the porch, and a look of

sorrow had made her pale. I talked to Bakemon as I took my bags out of the

carriage. "Thanks a lot, Bakemon. Remember, I'll still come to prowl the

castle and it's grounds once in a while, so tell all the guards we know and

Asuramon not to attack me when they see me. Not even Sara can keep me out of

there. It's for her own good."

Bakemon nodded and started helping me take out my bags. "Alright. I'm really

glad that Asuramon is on our side, he's a good Digimon. I've heard he

actually helped the Digidestined once, as his De-Digivolved form. He's a good

ally."

I blinked. "I never knew Asuramon helped the Digidestined in one of his

De-Digivolved forms. Wonder who that could be?..."

My bags were all unpacked. Bakemon climbed back onto the driver's seat,

tipped his hat to me, and flicked the reigns, making the ShimaUnimon break

into a trot. I watched him until he was out of sight before turning

shamefaced to my family.

"Peter, what happened?" May asked, the first to come up to me. "Why're ya

home so soon?" Nick and Mom came over to hear my answer.

I took a deep breath and answered the only way I could without revealing the

truth. "I guess I got Sara and she doesn't want to see me for a while."

I guess that satisfied my little siblings, because they left and went back to

their play. Only Mom stayed beside me. "She got rid of ya that quick?" She

asked.

I nodded. "She knows about Katy." I took a shaky breath, and I dreaded

telling Mom that next news. "And she says she doesn't care if Katy gets in

the way....she'll only be another Digidestined to Sara."

Mom turned pale. "Oh, what has the child become?" She asked, placing her hand

on her heart. "My poor children don't know how dangerous their opponent

is..."

I let go of my bags, and, full of passion, I hugged Mom and wondered how my

little sister would fare out in the woods. Guardians really were supposed to

live in secret, away from the Digidestined but close enough to always keep

watch on the child we were to protect. And we were always supposed to near

the battle so the kid wouldn't get hurt. But if Sara was on the

warpath........

"Mom, I just hope Katy will be safe."

Mom nodded. "Aye, I do the same. I do the same."

***Sara, Infinity Mountain***

I waited impatiently in the courtyard until the Bakemon returned with the

carriage. "Bakemon," I ordered, walking over to carriage. "Exchange the

ShimaUnimon for my Devidramon and prepare the carriage for a trip to The Dark

Temple."

I saw the Bakemon start. It was rare indeed that I visited The Dark Temple.

"The Dark Temple?" He asked. "Are you sure?"

I nodded, stroking my beloved Ebon Trist fondly. "I'm sure." I had done some

quick calculations and decided it was time to take some serious action.

Normal Digimon couldn't be depended on when sent against the Digidestined. It

was time to bring out the unbeatable Digimon, literally.

The Bakemon quickly got my Devidramon ready and we flew to a dark island that

had two mountians on it, one with a temple standing on it's peak, the only

building on the island. The island was at the very edge of the world, and the

sky abruptly turned from blue to black and the ground just disappeared and

turned into sky. It was legend that the sky was a bottomless abyss. I had

arrived at Ebon's Bane: home of Demiomon, the Creator of the Ebon Trist. The

temple on top of the mountain was Ebon Eyrie

I left the Bakemon and the carriage at the bottom of the mountain. No

shortcuts to the top were permitted, a spell had been cast by an ancient race

of Digimon so that those who tried to reach the top by flying were sent

spiraling down into the bottomless abyss. I also had to go through a dark

cave, then across a series of old rope bridges before I reached the temple. I

faced the cave without fear, my first challenge.

I walked into the cave and almost instantly my world went completely black.

I heard a patter of feet and felt something brush by my dress with a giggle.

Repressing a shudder, I clasped the Ebon Trist tighter in my grip and felt

it's dark power rush through me. It comforted me some, and I gathered enough

strengh to continue. "Goburimon!" I shouted, calling the name of the thing I

knew had brushed past me. "Bring me light and lead me to your Master!"

I heard a squeal, and instantly a torch was lit. It's bearer was a green,

goblin-like Digimon wearing only a loincloth. It had bright red hair and it's

eyes were pure white, no pupils whatsoever. Goburimon: not the smartest

Digimon in the world, I really don't know why Demiomon kept him as the guide

for Digimon who wanted to see him. "Hee-heee! Hello again, Ms. Sara!" It

cried. "Hee- heee! It's been so long! The master is been waiting for quite

some time!"

I frowned. "I don't care if Demiomon's been waiting for me, he has to wait

until "I", the master of the Ebon Trist, wish to see him. Now lead me through

this cave."

Goburimon nodded and giggled, and then turned and led through the cave. After

that, Goburimon could not go across the bridges, so I went on alone. The air

got thinner and thinner, but I continued to look ahead, towards Ebon Eyrie,

the temple of Demiomon. Finally I got there. I stood before a great oak door,

it's stone handle carved in the image of a bird's head.

Taking a deep breath, I flung open the doors of the temple. My feet touched a

red velvet carpet as I stepped inside and closed the door. It was dark

inside, the only light coming from torches that lined the carpet. The torches

and carpet led to a stone throne. The throne was enveloped in darkness, so I

was unable to see the figure who sat on it. But I knew who sat on it.

I walked confidently down the red carpet towards the throne, but when I

reached it I knelt to my knees and lowered my head.

Out of the darkness small balls of fire appeared, floating in the air and

growing until the place was washed in their meager glow and I was able to

make out Demiomon's body. The balls of fire were, in reality, his eyes boring

down at me. Demiomon was a large winged creature, whose wing span was at

least twenty feet and his body was similar to the human's mythological

griffins. Demio's beak was broad and hooked, easily capable of tearing flesh

and bone, and he frequently brought it together with a sharp, angry clack,

followed by a quick twist of his head as his eyes blinked or widened with

loathing or mockery. "Do you fear me, Zzara?" Demiomon asked suddenly, noticing my low position.
I raised my head so my eyes met his. "No, Demiomon, I have no need to fear

you. But I do, however, greatly respect you."
Demiomon's eyes lit with pleasure. "That izz good, Zzara. Yezz, rezpect izz

good. You may zztand."
I rose to my feet and brushed the dust off my dress. "I have great need of

you, Demiomon." I said, getting directly to business. "The Digidestined are

giving me problems. Apparently they're too strong for normal Digimon to

handle."
Demiomon snapped his beak shut with a loud crack that made me jump. "ZZoo,

you vizh for me to go and do battle with theze Digidzztened?
I nodded. "We both know you cannot be destroyed by any 'normal' Digimon." I

said with a smirk. With an air of satisfaction I stroked the Ebon Trist's

jewel. "When you made this amazing staff, you gave it all your soul and

power." I looked up at the large bird sitting on the throne. "Unless the Ebon

Trist is destroyed, you're virtually invincable!"
Demiomon cocked his head and his eyes glinted. "Zzara, is vinning all that

matterz to you?"
Rage built up inside me and my eyes flashed with anger. "Winning?! No, of

course not! I must avenge my father and restore his honor! That's all that

matters to me! You know that!"
Demiomon nodded. "Yezz, I do know thizz. But I juzzt needed to know if you

did!"
I frowned. "Demiomon, you confuse me beyond understanding. Will you or not

battle the Digidestined?"
Demiomon's eyes crinkled up in a smile. "Of courzze I vill battle the

Digideztined. They vill be no match for me and my power!"
With that, Demiomon rose up, flapping his great leathery wings and blowing

out all the torches from the wind they created. I choked as dust was blown in

my face and my hair and cape were blown wildly about. "Demiomon!" I cried,

throwing one arm in front of my eyes to protect them from the dust. "Stop!"
Demiomon lowered himself down beside me, his firey-red eyes burning with

excitement. "Zzara! Come vith me into battle! You vould make a fine battle

partner!"
I laughed. "Alright, I will come with you. I haven't foughten the

Digidestined for a while and I don't wish to get rusty!"
"Come then Zzara! I vill take you down to the bottom of my mountain and there

you vill tell your driver that you vill not be returning vith him! I vill

return you to your caztle after ve have battled."
I nodded. "That's fine with me, Demiomon! Perfectly fine!" And with that, I

climbed onto the great bird's wings and we flew out of the temple.
***Katy***
I continued ta watch the Digidestined camp, me eyes wandering over to The

Child....uh...Jacob, every minute or so. He'd been taken by fever soon after

I woke him, and the Digidestined weren't exactly sure as ta what to be doin'

next! But as it be night, they all sat around a campfire and listened as

Jessica stroked her brother's hair and told a story.
It started remindin' me of nights at home, where we all would be sittin'

around the fireplace and Momma would be tellin' us stories. It got me feelin'

mighty homesick, so I concentrated on the story Jessica be tellin'.
I guess that Jessica hadn't been telling the story in a while, because she

asked the others ta review what'd happened before. It be an interesting

story, about how these children, (who strangely have the same names as some

of the Digidestined children), were students to Gennia, but Gennia worked for

a king and was summoned to the king's presense because there be a problem at

the castle. They finished explainin' quickly and I now had an idea as ta what

be goin' on.
"Jordan, Jessica, Joe, Tai and Matt awoke to find that they were in a dungeon

cell, and a boy sized rat was unconcious in the cell with them!" Jessica

said, starting the real story. I saw Jordan nudge A.J. and grin. "They had no

idea who this rat was, but they realized that he was young and in rough

condition, so they had Jessica cast a heal spell on him and he then woke up.

"Where am I?" The rat asked, looking around. "What happened?" "
A.J. leaned forward in his seat, as I did in me tree branch. " "You're in

Gallam's castle dungeon." Jordan told him. "We just got here ourselves, so we

don't know how you got here. Who are you?" But the rat wasn't listening to

Jordan, he was searching himself furiously, as if looking for something."
Absolutely absorbed in the story, I lept down from the tree and made me way

closer ta the group, being very careful as ta not be seen by the

Digidestined. "Are you okay?" Jessica asked the rat, moving a bit closer.

"Did you lose something?" "THEY'RE GONE!!!" The rat screamed suddenly,

making Jessica stumble back and lose her balance. Matt and Jordan caught her

before she fell, though."
The boys Matt and Jordan slapped their hands together when Jessica paused,

large grins being on their faces. " "Dude, what's your problem?" Tai asked,

frowning up at the rat. He rubbed his finger over the edge of his axe. "Don't

make me hafta drag this outa ya!"
They all giggled. "The rat looked up. "My name's A.J., alright? I'm like

Robin Hood, I steal from the rich and give to the poor, but it looks like

this time the rich caught-!" WHAT THE--?!"
Jessica was cut off as large wind be startin' up suddenly, blowin' out the

fire and causin' all the Digidestined ta be lifted off the ground and thrown

five feet! I meself was blown back a few feet, but I quickly regained me

balance and rushed back ta the edge of the woods ta see what'd be going on.
What I saw made me with I be dead. A large black bird, with fire red eyes was

decendin' on the Digidestined. Me breath caught in me throat: Demiomon!

Terror of the Digiworld and creator of the acursed Ebon Trist! Had it been he

who'd been attackin' the Digidestined?
"Zzo, theze are the Digideztined?" Demiomon asked, cockin' his head ta the

side as he be lookin' at the children scattered on the ground. "They do not

look like much!"
"Who are you?" Tai demanded, standin' ta his feet. The others started ta do

the same, shaky and bruised.

"That's Demiomon!" Agumon told his parter, his eyes being large and filled

with fear. "He's only a Champion Digimon, but he's extremely strong and could

take out WarGreymon and MetalGururumon one shot while drinking tea! Compared

to him, The four Dark Masters were cupcakes!"
Tai frowned, but before any of the DIgidestined could speak, a famillar voice

rang out so suddenly I nearly leapt outa me skin! "Very good, little Agumon!"

The voice said and I started ta be thinkin' on who it be. "I'm surprised you

know about Demiomon!"
And then, ta me evalastin' horror, Sara hopped off Demiomon's side, the

acursed Ebon Trist clasped in her hand. "Hello again, Digidestined!" She

said, and I saw malice that be glintin' in her eyes. "Remember me?"
Sara.....Sara be the one who'd been attackin' the Digidestined? Sara, who'd

attended me coronation and knew that I be a Guardian? It be impossible!
And yet there she stood, ready ta attack those who I had to protect and

probably wouldn't be givin' it another thought afta. Me world was gettin'

stranger an' stanger.
