2003 (Main):
1. (a) A 38-year-old nulliparous woman is now 10 weeks' pregnant after a successful IVF treatment with a singleton pregnancy. She is very worried about foetal / chromosomal abnormalities. Describe how you would manage this patient.
(b) She decided on an amniocentesis and the result revealed a karyotyping of Trisomy-21. She is now 19 weeks' pregnant. Describe your management.
2. The patient is a 34-year-old Gravida 5 Para 4. She has been followed up in the antenatal clinic since the first trimester. She is now 32 weeks and the baby is in a breech presentation. Discuss the management of this patient - from now until delivery.
3. Write short notes on THREE of the following conditions:
(a) Antepartum haemorrhage.
(b) Hypertension in pregnancy.
(c) Management of a woman with hyperemesis gravidarum at 8 weeks' amenorrhoea.
(d) Induction of labor.
4. A 38-year-old woman is married to her 39-year-old husband for the last 8 years and not been able to conceive in spite of not using any form of contraception. Discuss the management of this couple with primary subfertility.
5. A 30-year-old single woman, planning to get married the following month, attended a gynaecological clinic for routine Pap smear. On examination, she was found to have a 10-cm left ovarian cyst. Discuss the management of this woman who is asymptomatic.
6. Write short notes on THREE of the following:
(a) Tubal ectopic pregnancy.
(b) Cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia (CIN).
(c) Problems associated with intra-uterine contraceptive device.
(d) Management of recurrent vaginal discharge.

b) Use of the obstetric vacuum cup for delivery.

5. A 58-year-old Malay teacher, with three children, complains of a protruding mass at her introitus associated with bleeding per vaginum of one week duration. Discuss your differential diagnosis and management of this patient.
6. Write short notes on three of the following:
a) Intra-uterine contraceptive device (IUCD).
b) Hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
c) Urinary incontinence.
d) Colposcopy.
2001 (Main):
1. A 32-year-old Malay primiparous had a Neville-Barnes forceps delivery for prolonged second stage. One hour later, she was found to be cold and hypotensive, with profuse vaginal bleeding. Discuss how you would manage this patient.
2. A 40-year-old Chinese para 2 presents at 32 weeks in the Antenatal Clinic with severe headache and a BP reading of 200 / 120 mmHg. Discuss how you would manage this patient.
3. Write short notes on three of the following:
a) Amniotic fluid embolism.
b) Vacuum-assisted delivery.
c) Fetal-fetal transfusion in identical twins.
d) Placenta accreta.
6. Write short notes on three of the following:
a) abnormal Pap smear.
b) in-vitro fertilization.
c) atypical cystic hyperplasia of the endometrium.
d) post-coital contraception.
