Sunlight and Shadow

When others ask "Why Witchcraft?", I like to respond with a poem I wrote soon after discovering the path.  The freedom to be who I am and not be damned.

Sunlight and Shadow

It could not be more simple
Yet these years I did not see
As I sought to raise myself above
All the world surrounding me

I am light and love and laughter
I am shadows, hate and tears
I am rocks and trees and moonlight
I am courage, pain and fear

I am stone and cold unyeilding
I am passion, heat and sighs
I am magic, pure and healing
I'm the slayer and the sky

I have power and I have weakness
I am sleet and gentle rain
I am all I see around me
I'm a child and I'm a man

I am good and I am evil
And I hate not either one
Both in sunlight and in shadow
I will laugh and play and run.
