[TITLE]MODAL SYSTEM
Splitting a scale in 7 sub-scales which start from every degree of the original one means to play it in every mode of the scale.
>So we have a C SDM (mode 1): C,D,E,F,G,A,B
>and the same starting from the 2nd degree (mode 2): D,E,F,G,A,B,C
>and also the same for other degrees, using every note as tonic.

There are 7 basic scales that will help us to find the positions in the guitar handle; this modal system allow the guitarist to play th whole handle without changing tonality: we can play a A SDM on the 5th key using the Ionian scheme, and continue in A major tonality using the Phrygian scheme on the 10th key.
Considering to play the tonic note on the 6th string, i.e in F tonality, we'll have to start from the 1th handle key, 6th string, and produce a F major scale (Ionian). Other degrees will be at these keys (6th string): 3,5,6,8,10,12; use the 7 modal scales to continue in F tonality as follow:

key mode
1th 1 IONIAN (DIAT.MAJ)
3rd 2 DORIAN
5th 3 PHRYGIAN
6th 4 LYDIAN
8th 5 MIXOLYDIAN
10th 6 AEOLIAN (MIN.NAT)
12th 7 LOCRIAN

Considering the C major tonality:
> 1th C IONIAN:
C,D,E,F,G,A,B
> 2nd D DORIAN:
D,E,F,G,A,B,C
> 3th E PHRYGIAN:
E,F,G,A,B,C,D
... and so on

So we can play a F Ionian on key 1 and then move to the 5th key and continue with A Phrygian, reaching mor high notes.

[TXTE]Example:
DO Ionian:
key 8, Ionian
key 10, Doran
key 12 (or 0 - free string), Phrygian
key 13 (or 1), Lydian
key 15 (or 3), Mixolydian
key 17 (or 5), Aeolian
key 19 (or 7), Locrian

[PAGE][TXTE]Exercise:
Play all the 7 modes in F major, starting from The Ionian scale at key 1 from top to bottom and back, and moving to keys 3 (Dorian), 5 (Phrygian), 6, 8, 10 e 12.
