1.    What is your diagnosis and histological findings?

 

Familial adenomatous polyposis. Each adenoma (tubular) consists of a finger-like projection into the lumen lined by dysplastic epithelium with a lamina propria core. The dysplastic cells are tall, hyperchromatic with increased nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio and cigar-shaped nuclei.

 

 

2.    What can happen to the lesion?

It will grow to become an invasive adenocarcinoma, invading the basement membrane eventually.

 

 

3.    What is the clinical manifestation?

a.    Asymptomatic.

b.    Anemia.

c.    Occult bleeding. 

Pleuritic chest pain.

 

 

4.    What are the associated diseases and lesions?

 

a.    Garnder's syndrome: exhibits multiple osteomas, fibromatosis.

b.    Turcot syndrome: alimentary adenomas and gliomas.
