Goals of the Forensic Medicine Module
1. To provide medical students with a firm grounding in basic medico-legal and ethical principles relevant to clinical practice, so that they may be thus guided in the course of their interaction with patients and, ultimately, as clinicians of the future.
2. To familiarize medical students with the rudiments of forensic pathology and clinical forensic medicine, so as to enable them to deal with forensic issues, which commonly arise in clinical practice, effectively. This would include the proper recognition and documentation of injuries, as well as their interpretation (where appropriate), together with an adequate appreciation of the medico-legal implications of iatrogenic injuries.
