*** Mets trade Bobby M. Jones and a minor league player for Jason Middlebrook and Steve Reed. Advantage: Mets. Steve Reed is a top arm and will help the Mets in the bullpen a lot. Mets Trade Jay Payton and Mark Corey minor league outfeilder for John Thomson and Mark Little. Advantage: Rockies. The Rockies added a very good feildin outfeilder in Jay Payton to cover a lot of ground in Coors. In Coors Feild Jay Payton can up his stats and could make an all star team if he stays healthy. The Mets obtain really one player, Little before becoming a Met is hitting .203 and will be sent down soon. Thomson will become the Mets fourth or fifth starter. He can be a great pitcher but it's doubtful. Now the Mets are forced to play three left handed outfeilders everyday. ***

A tony torasco homerun kept the Mets in the game but Jay Bell, who had one hit all season, hit a three run homerun and the D'backs never looked back as they swept the double dip at Shea. |
August 17 2002 - The Amazins vs. The Bums at Shea on the same night as the New York Mets celibrated their 40th Aniiversity by announcing their All Amazin Team but the game was anything but amazin. The Dodgers hit Pedro Astacio from the first pich. The Mets had no chance and the Met fans were sick of it, chanting "Strike." Met fans even became creative chanting "MVP" when Jeremy Burnitz stepped up tp the plate. The Mets were embaressed at Shea with a score of 10-4. To the right is the Mets all Amazin Team.

September 17 2002 - A meaningless game at Shea between the Mets and the Cubs would become an exciting one. The Mets and Cubs traded runs but in the bottem of the ninth New York Met's Right Feilder Jeremy Burnitz launched a walk off homerun giving the Cubs and Jose Cruz another lose and finally giving the Mets a win.
September 21 2002 - The final game for me at Shea in 2002 would be a fun one. Witht no surprise the Mets were losing to the Montreal Expos. Down by on run in the bottem of the 9th with two outs the Mets put on a comeback. After two bloop hits the Mets got the tieing run home on an Andre Galarraga error. IN the bottem on the 13th inning Esix Sneed hit a walk off game winning solo homerun, his first homerun ever which concluded my season at Shea.
