DONT REMOVE THIS TAG Dagbladet March 15,2006 CLOSE RACE between Elvira and Marit Elvira Nikolaisen: New Artist Marit Larsen: Success Alone Here's the article: CLOSE RACE BETWEEN ELVIRA AND MARIT The girls now rule the sales-list. Of the talkabout-debut artist this year, Elvira Nikolaisen is currently on first place. The year's most talked-about debut artists, Elvira Nikolaisen and Marit Larsen released their solo-albums past Monday. Both of them has been rewarded with good rewievs - strong 'five's' here in "Dagbladet". SonyBMG (Elvira's company) shipped 8 000 copies to the shops, but they've got even more orders. Apparently, 11 000 have got her piano-based solo debut-album. -This is a really great start, and many copies sold in such chort time. It's extra fun when it is a debut-artist, says the marketing manager in SonyBMG, Kim Paulsen. Immediate Hit If we in "Dagbladet" have got it right, Marit Larsen's pop-album "Under the Surface" sold a little less, but it's close. EMI, Marit's company, have shipped 16 000 copies of the album to the shops, and they are sure that they can sell it all. -Sure, we'll do that, and sell even more too. But you can't always just look at the quantity. Our gal is to establish Marit Larsen as a solo-artist in our way. If we sell 15, 20 or 25 000 is not the most important thign right now, says marketing manager Bjørn Rogstad. He admits that EMI thought it would take some time to establish Marit Larsen as a solo-artist. -This have gone so much faster then we'd thought. We have had a lot of playing on the radio and "Don't Save Me" were a hit much faster then we assumed. And we have a general feeling that everything's gonnabe OK and that is probably becaus the album is very good. Elvira on first In spite of Marit Larsen is on first on the singel-list AND the downloading list, Elvira is currently selling a little more. Kim Paulsen think it's because Elvira captures a wide market. -"Quiet Exit" is an album that everybody can have. Both young and old, women and men. In first round, it looks promising to sell around 20 000. The music rewiever Asbjørn Slettemark says he thinks that it's just luck that descides. He likes both of them. -I think they're gonna sell just as much. Well, Marit's a little better on radio, but they're both successful there. REWIEVS: Marit Larsen: "Under the Surface" 5 stars. "Under the Surface" is like a really good romantic comedy. On the surface, Marit Larsen's solo debut is cute and quite charming. But under the surface, it's burning... Elvira Nikolaisen: "Quiet Exit" 5 stars. "Quiet Exit" is an interesting debut-album, and Elvira Nikolaisen should be pretty happy with the result. This is beautiful music that deserves a lot of listeners.
