Smart enough, Marit MARIT LARSEN Toll Hall, Stavanger Audience : Around 400 people Current CD : The album will be released before the end of this year She has talent, yes Oslopuls.no rates a 4 out of 6 In the eyes of many people, Marit Larsen might always be seen as the "Talented one" from the Norwegian pop duo M2M. And eventually as "the one who got dumped", when Marion Ravn got her solo contract and the duo were forced to "break up". In other words, a hard starting point for Marit Larsen from Lørenskog, now that she is finally back on stage, without having any singles released yet. But with enough material to prove that all this talk about her talent, actually is a fact. The talent is there! Rougher than M2M. She’s made a few smart choices, possibly as an natural development away from M2M. Several of the songs, she played during the half hour , was far more rough then any of the M2M material ever were. Safely placed in the guitar based "singer/songwriter" genre , instead of a "pop product". And on top of that, she also brought a cello into the songs, and a background singer, which sounds far darker than her ex-partner Ravn. Still it’s Marit’s own voice that takes us through the concert with steady manners and dignity. Her voice that sounds a bit fragile when she speaks between the songs, becomes a distinguishing feature when she sings. And eventhough it is hard to imagine a million success like M2M – If anybody want that to happen again – in a genre that is more crowded of artists already – well, then this performance was more than an honourable comeback to the public world.
