Experimental Compression Rifle (XCR) type 8
First Block of Build: 2386
Designed by: SSR Special Weapons Division/Hecklr & Koach Defense
Inc.
The XCR-8 is a new baseline assault rifle destined to be used for the
Marine Corps and Starfleet Special Operations, making the tried and
true ECR-4's and 16's be standard issue to Security forces. The
XCR-8's most prominent feature is the way the weapon can be modified to
fit a mission profile. Pictured above is the Baseline Assault Carbine
configuration of the rifle. Other configurations involves the Carbine
w/ Photon launcher, Sharpshooter mode, Compact Carbine, and SAW (Squad
Automatic Weapon)
mode.

The XCR-8 is a rifle that features the Universal Modulation technology,
improving on phaser firing energy that would be nearly impossible to
stop by personal adaptation shielding. Each mag clip holds around 100
rounds. The Mega Magazine shown on the SAW mode holds 10 times as much.
The Mega Magazine can also be used on other modes. Lab and field
testing of the rifle has shown great promise. With the current track,
the XCR-8 (probably will be changed to ECR-8 once adopted) will be in
service no later than 2388.
