| Defiant is the first of a very special class of Escort Destroyer. She was proposed with the idea of defending the Federation and her Allies from races like the Starionnae and, what we know little about, the Borg. In her own reality, the Defiant was proposed as a compact, heavily armed, overpowered, Warship for the purposes of defense. Just her basics alone fit that description. |

Max speed: Warp 8 Max Cruise Range: 1 Year Shuttles: 1 Geelong Class Runabout The Defiant is a Prototype based on a design by the Frontier Group and built by Astrodynamics Laboratories, a recent construction/research firm working out of the Utopia Planitia Assembly Facility on Mars. She was built as a long-range escort and patrol vessel, designed to combat smaller, highly maneuverable starship designs by races such as the Stariionae or even the Borg. Everything about this small ship is new, and has pushed the limits of theory to the edge and beyond. Her warp drive was designed to pull the ship along into hyperspace rather than sling-shot the ship as with current warp engine designs. Her weapons focus on a revolutionary Phaser Design, being equipped with three Mark-9 high-powered capitol-ship scale Phaser Cannon, and even the brand new antimatter-tipped Photon Torpedoes. The Block II Ships are to be fitted out with 4 new pulse-fire Phaser Cannons currently under development at the Utopia Planitia Assembly Facility as their main armament.
