H&K PR5 w/LAM and folding stock extended
H&K PR5-IM with Laser Sight and Solid Stock
The PR5 is a new Automatic Phaser Rifle for Naval use. Smaller, more compact that the Type-III Carbine, this weapon is excellent in crisis situations.  This weapon has also been used in H.E.A.T. (Hostage Extraction and Antiterrorist Tactics) operations for the Marine Corps.  Most Special Operations Units have found this weapon to be excellent for their use due in part to its small size and durability.  The PR5 can also be fitted with a Phaser Silencer for Covert Operations.

Since most Federation ships are designed with exploration in mind, Starfleet decided their Security Forces needed more flexibility due to the Borg Threat.  With this in mind, a second model was produced.  The PR5-IM has a built-in integrated Infinity Modulator system.  Due to this addition to its mussle, it cannot be fitted with a Phaser Silencer, although the IM reduces the sound of the weapon being fired.
