Vortex is a suspended roller coaster, which enables it to swing under the track from side-to-side. It officially opened during the 1991 season. In the "Vortex" riders are taken up through the mountain and dropped at high speeds. At points in the ride the rider will feel they are literally inches away from touching water in Wonderland's lake. Although being considered an "old" coaster, Vortex still holds the record for being the fastest suspended coaster in the world.

Ride Experience
The ride starts by going up a 91 foot chain lift hill above the midway until it reaches near the top of Wonder Mountain. As you reach this point you begin to make a 180 degree turn and quickly go into the 85 foot drop straight down Wonder Mountain and swing into a 45 degree banked turn as you zoom on top of the station. From there you'll soar and fly over Wonderland Lake, winding and turning over the water as you swirve in and out across the lake and then turn around before heading back into the station. The Vortex is a rough, but thrilling and fun ride and is a fan favourite, universally considered to be one the best rides in the whole park.

Other Information
Vortex is the only ride in the whole entire park to pass over the midway, right around Wonder Mountain.
Colours: The track is red, the supports are blueish-grey, and the trains are blue and red, with yellow horsecollar restraints.
Best Seats: Sit in the front seats for the best view of the park, or the back seats for the greatest G-forces, and experience the greatest thrill senstation as you zoom over the water.
Queue Line Wait Time: This is a very popular ride and therefore the wait time for this ride is normally at least 1 hour.
