PCW Overview

Paramount Canada's Wonderland is Canada's largest theme park with 330 acres divided into 7 theme areas with more than 65 rides and over 200 attractions in total. The lands are International Street, Medeival Faire, International Festival, Hanna-Barbera Land, White Water Canyon Area, Splash Works, and Grande World Exposition of 1890. Wonderland is a very beautiful park with lots of landscaping, with it's centrepiece being a 100 ft (30 metres) tall mountain made out of limestone with a waterfall in the front. Known as Wonder Mountain, it serves as a cooling system for the park and it's thought to have been designed after a mountain in Africa. Guests used to be allowed to walk up the ramps to the top and observe the rest of the park.

Construction
"Construction began in June 1979 when William Davis, then Premier fo Ontario, pushed a plunger in downtown Toronto touching off the first blast at what was then called Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan. The peak construction period occured in 1980 with 700 tradespeople, 12 architecural and engineering firms and 40 inspectors working on the enterprise."
Opening Day - May 23rd, 1981
"William Davis and Dudley Taft, President of Taft Broadcasting, were among the notables attending an elaborate opening ceremony for Canada's first national theme park. The ceremony included 10,000 helium balloons, 13 parachutists, 350 white doves, a pipe band and 4 children representing the Arctic, Pacific, Atlantic, and Great Lakes regions of Canada."
