Hello again from New Jersey!

Kid Koala, Katie, and Katie's mom went to a performance of "Peter and the Wolf" on Sunday.  The story of "Peter and the Wolf" is about a boy and his animal friends and how they meet a wolf one day.  The story was told with words and music.  A narrator told the story while the Haddonfield Symphony Chamber Orchestra played the music.  Each character in the story has an instrument that goes with it.  After the performance, we got to meet some of the orchestra members and get an up close look at the instruments they play.  Here are some pictures....

Kid and Katie find the Australia books!
Kid helps Katie perform a computer search for books about Australia.
Kid Koala has had so much fun with our family this week.  From these new photographs, you can see that he went to Brian's soccer (football) practice, to Katie's ballet class, and to gymnastics class.  We're going to let Kid visit some other schools for a while.  He'll be back with us next month when we go to Disneyland in California!
Take care until then,
The Aylesworth Family
Mr. Conyers plays the bass.  The bass is the largest of the string instruments.  It is two times taller than Katie! [Katie is 45 inches (1.14 m) tall.]
Mr. Cuneo plays the bassoon.  The bassoon is a wind instrument.  It's a pretty long instrument too.
Mr. Israel plays the trombone, a brass instrument.  You need a lot of room to play a trombone becau
Kid Koala went to the Cherry Hill Public Library to help Katie find books about Australia.  We checked out three books and one video.  The video is all about animals in Australia.  Katie says koalas are her favorite Australian animal, but she also likes kangaroos.  Katie wants to know if any of you have ever been to the Australia Zoo.  We looked it up on our computer and found out that it is all the way on the other side of Australia from where you are!  Our closest zoo is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  That's only about 10 miles (16 km) away.

From the books, we learned that your country is also a continent.  We also learned that your seasons are the opposite of ours.  We are looking forward to the end of winter and the beginning of spring right now, while you are ending summer and will begin fall soon.  One more thing - we are writing this message at 4:00 in the afternoon here, but it is dark where you are and you are all probably still in bed sleeping!
