Part 3

Gala was lost in thoughts and memories until he made it to the training room. Gala saw Vahn. His mouth drop in shock "Vahn, what happen to you?" Gala said as he kneed down next to him. Mei was holding Vahn's hand. Vahn look very ill. His blue hair was limp and wet. His face was sweaty and pale. His body was trembling with the chills. "Mei, what happened to him?" Gala said softly. "We were traveling to here to ask for your help about Vahn's nightmares. About where the old mist factory was when Vahn collapse. He just fell to ground. He starts to shake and run this terrible fever. We were to far from the castle. So, I have no choice but to come here." Mei said with a tremble in her voice. Gala turn to left saw one of the healer runs toward them. One of the students must ran and got a healer after seeing Vahn on the floor like this, Gala thought.

"Master Gala, we need to make him comfortable as possible." The healer said as she examine Vahn. Gala order several students to help him carry Vahn to the healer's room. Soon, the healer order everyone outside so she could work. Once, Gala and Mei were outside. Mei was looks like she was about to panic. Gala place his hand on her shoulder. "He is going to be all right, isn't he?" Mei asks softly. "Yes. Vahn is strong. He can handle anything." Gala said sternly. He didn't know who trying covert himself or Mei. In his opinion, Vahn did not look very good. "You say something about nightmares?" Gala said. "He never did tell me what they were about or when they started. I find out about a month ago, he was screaming that night. He was much like he is now for exception he was awake." Mei said softly as she began to pace. "Something is very wrong." Gala mumbles. Vahn having nightmares. Him having flashing visions. Who knows what Noa will bring. Mei looks up at Gala with curious look on her face. "It is nothing to worry about until I get in connect with Noa." Gala said.

"Nothing to wrong about you say. I don't remember you saying that when we travel against the mist. That was mostly Vahn's line." The voice said amusly. Gala turn around to his surprise. Noa was standing there in front of him. She was wearing a white coat and brown pants. Her flaming red hair was pin into a loose bun. Even with the coat, it could not hide her Battle Claw. A second later, Noa runs up and give him a hug. Few years ago, Gala would have been shock about this form of friendness. Of course, that is what you get from traveling with Noa for a year. "Noa is good to see you. Where is Cort?" Gala said as he returns the hug. "Cort is playing with some of the other children. I didn't want him to hear such grim news yet. What is wrong with Vahn?" Noa asks. "He is very ill. The healer is seeing him now." Gala sigh as he looks down at her.

Noa was quite for a moment. "Mei, would you like to help me under pack? It would do us no good just standing out here waiting. And knowing Vahn, he would have scold us for worry about him." Noa said. Mei look like to protest but Noa give her "the look." Noa was smarter than what people think. Noa was right. It would do them no-good standing around. Finally Mei nods her head in defeat. Gala watches them as they left for the living areas. He needs to take his mind off of everything. Perhaps, some training would do.

----Vahn's Nightmare-----

Vahn opens his eyes. He was staring into blackness. Soft humming fulls his ears. Slowly, he notices a little girl holding a puera sitting in front of him "Do you want to play with me?" the little girl asks. He looks down at the four cards in front of her. "Pick one." The little girl said. He feel a forbearing of drear thought his soul. Slowly, his hand made his way toward the middle card if he had no control over it. His hand flips it over. The picture was dreadful. It was picture of Noa with thousands draggers runs through her body. He could feel her pain and her abuse just by touching the card. He closes his eyes if he was going scream or faint from the pain. "That will happen to your friend, if you don't come to me?" The little girl said. "No . . . You are lying." Vahn said angrily. "I do not lie, Vahn. You will come to me." The little girl said. The puera came alive as card glow red. A moment later, he feels a dragger dig into his flesh. He screams as the little girl's voice echo throught his mind. "You will come to me."

Part: The Waiting Game

~The Women's Room at Missionary~

Noa put Cort's clothes into a nearby dresser by her bed. "So, are you and Vahn marry yet?" Noa said as she close the dresser's doors. Mei's mouth drops. "Noa! Why do ask such a question! But...no..we are not." Mei said quitely."Why? I mean, the last I saw both of you. You two were close." Noa said as she turn around to look at Mei. "Oh, we were close, but not close enough. Everytime, we had to our self. Vahn was need by some major or king. It made me feel like a piece of jewelry." Mei said as she look back at Noa. "What do you expect when you went Vahn? A trip to Sol. Vahn was well-like by many people in Legaia. Cities and towns has been apart for so long that they need someone that they respect. All of us has been everywhere in Legaia. I couldn't handle that responsible. I had Cort to take care of. Gala is great person but he doesn't get along with people well. I mean, he is better than he was four years ago. So, that leaves Vahn and Vahn would never turn his back on people." Noa said.

"I am not expecting a trip to Sol. I was hoping he was settle; down. He would become a hunter again but he rush to Biron after he return to the village. He left me behind for some training." Mei said as her voice rise a pinch. "Did you ever ask why Vahn left? Did you jump to conclusions! I going to give you a little hint! Vahn left because he feel he no longer belong!" Noa said as her green eyes seem to glow with angry. "Sis?" a small voice said from behind the door. "I am coming, Cort. We will finish this later." Noa said as she turn on her heels and left the room. Mei look down at her feet and wonder what could have gone wrong.

~Vahn's Room~

Gala was sitting down on the floor as he watch Vahn. Gala watch as sweat run down hisface. His body seems to fighting an invisible battle. He wish he could help him but he could not help his friend and perhaps, a brother he never had. Sonja was a good friend but as they grew older. The distance between them grew until a river become an ocean. He regrets never seeing it soon. Perhaps, he could have save him but that was the past. A past he could not change. A memory rush into his vision like astorm.

~Flashback-Six months after the Mist~

A knock on door made Gala look up from the message from Sol. The ways of Biron has grown over the years. "Come in." Gala said as a much taller and leaner Vahn openthe door. Vahn must have hit a growing spur when they part. "Gala." Vahn said with a smile on his face. "Vahn...it has been a long time. What brings you here, my friend?" Gala said. Vahn lower his head slicely and bit his lower lip. After spending a year with Noa and Vahn, he pick up some of their habits and moods. Vahn tends to show his nervousness more than Noa. "Vahn?" Gala said ashe start to worry. "After a year of saving the world and another six months, I travel the world, I return to my village. I want to become a hunter again. But the moment, I set foot in my village. I feel...disconnect. I feel if I was living in my own world. As the days pass, I feel the disconection grow. I could not live with it anymore. So, I left and come here. I was hoping that you would help me." Vahn said.

Gala was silent. He understood what Vahn was saying. He feel the same thing when he return to Missionary but as time pass, he felt really belong here. For Vahn, it was different. Vahn's life has been uprooted and he could not return to the way itwas. Perhaps, it was not suppose to be that way and Vahn has a different destiny than being a hunter. "Vahn...how would you like to train here? Perhaps, it will help you." Gala said as he look up at Vahn. "That sounds better than anything I hear so far." Vahn said with a smile.

~End of Flashback~

Gala smiles at the memories of that conversation. Vahn was good student but he was a good fighter already. Both the students and the teachers like him. Vahn and he got into their disagreements, but Gala look forward to them. Vahn was not the smartest person in world but he had a good dose of common sense. Six months later, Vahn become a master teacher. Around the same time, King Drake need Vahn's help deal with the relationship with Sol. Soon enough, someone need Vahn for something. He become a diplomat for the world and Vahn love every minute of it.

A scream snap him from his thoughts. Vahn was tremble like a wind blown leaf. His voice seems to echo through the room. "Vahn." Gala said as he shake his shoulder. Vahn's eyes pope open from the touch. Vahn continues to scream until his voice was hoarse. His eyes seems to be lost in mist of the nightmare. Gala sighs..For the first time in a long time, he feel helpless.
