Paw Paw Seed Tips
Hosted by www.Geocities.ws

Eastern Paw Paw seeds are good for approximately 6 months. The seeds need to stay moist, but not wet. They shouldn't be allowed to dry out completely. They also need to be cold stratified to germinate. A good way to stratify is by wrapping the seeds in damp moss or damp paper towels and storing in the refrigerator till ready to plant directly. Another option is to place in the refrigerator till the weather turns consistently colder, last of December, January you be the judge of that for your particular area. Remove from fridge and pot up. Place pot in an unheated garage, green house were ever it can be protected from being washed away or eaten by animals and you can still water and maintain that moist environment. Also, Paw Paw trees need to be planted either in pairs or near a blooming tree or shrub. They need the pollen, carried by bird, wind or other, from the neighboring plant to pollinate their own fruit.
