| Food can help reduce the symptoms of Crohn's disease. Myself having Crohn's Disease I believe that some of them really do help manage the symptoms of Crohn's Disease. Apple-it is high in fiber (especially the skins) thus it helps prevent diarrhea and constipation Fenugreek-helps prevent diarrhea Fish and Fish oils (omega-3) may help crohn's disease-it is known to help ulcerative colitis Garlic-may help improve the immune system and may help prevent ulcers Ginger-helps prevent nausea and vomiting Pineapple-(a personal favorite) this is helps suppress inflamation and aids in digestion Plum, prune, and dates- helps prevent constipation Rice is one of the nicer grains it does not cause the unpleasant side effects that wheat and oat can have Yogurt is a great food it helps replenish the good bacteria in one's intestine my old GI doc said that was a must since when you have a lot of diarrhea a lot of the good bacteria gets killed. Yogurt has an extra bonus it does not have lactose in it and a great source of calcium. But out of all of the above foods my favorite are mints. You can carry any type of mint (peppermint and spearmint) and when you all of a sudden feel a wave a nausea-have a mint. Peppermint tea is a must for me when I feel a wave of nausea-works great. It has a soothing effect on the digestive system. It seems to be able to reduce nausea, helps to quit vomiting, and upset stomach. |
