  • Chapter 16

Eighteen ended the communication with Bulma with a small sigh of relief, shed known her sister was aliveit was just nice to have proof!

You there! Eighteen grabbed one of the lower ranking officers, Head down into the science labs, I need head engineer Gringo up here now, its a matter of and death. Tell him to bringing any tools with that he would need to dismantle a shield generator.

Yes Mam! The officer turned and scuttled off, Eighteen glanced around and then dialled in the number for Chichi ad Gokus ship.

A yawning Goku answered, Wassup Eighteen?

I need Chichi here pronto, I have a mission for her.

A mission? Am I going? His eyes narrowed as Eighteen shook her head, What kind of mission is it dangerous? I wont allow

It doesnt matter what you will or will not allow! I am second ranked in the battlefield after Vegeta, You will follow my orders! I need Chichi to rescue Vegeta, so get her into a pod and send her over here as soon as possible. Eighteen snapped off the COM channel before he could argue more.

Bulma and Vegeta kept to the shadows as they snuck down to the docking bay, sooner or later they knew someone was going to notice they were missing and a search would be started, but they were determined not to be caught. Bulma has stolen a white lab coat from a lab technician and wore her hair in a bun under a cap; she wore her armour under her clothes.

Bulma checked her watch and pulled into a small alcove, pulling Vegeta with her, They should be leaving soon, we have to get down to the docking bay quickly and wait there.

Hang on a minutewont they see the shuttle?

No, theyre using a newly developed stealth technology, its impossible for the sensors to pic up anything from them. Bulma started walking again, this time at a faster pace.

How come I, your esteemed Prince, was not told of this new technology? Vegeta ran a hand through his hair again,

We would have mentioned it to you eventually Yeah, once wed worked all the bugs out of the system, I guess Dr. Briefs never got around to telling you.

Youre not telling me something. Vegeta grumbled.

Bulma opened the door to the docking bay and walked in, ignoring Vegeta as he walked next to her, still mumbling that she was lying to him by omission.

Can I help you? And official looking man stepped in front of them, his eyes wondering over Bulmas form.

Were here to perform some safety checks on shuttle number 54, were received a complaint about the electrical system. Bulma smiled sweetly and held up an ID tag, the photo on it looked similar to her, the name under it read, Marron K. Smith.

The man looked at it and then at Bulmas face and waved her through, 54 is on the south side of the docking bay.

Thank you. Bulma gave him another smile and she moved ahead, Vegeta following close behind as the man gave him an envious look.

That was easier then expected. She muttered to Vegeta, Do I really look like this picture? She glanced at the ID tag,

Vegeta shrugged, Kind of, if you scrunch you eyes up and tilt your head to the left it looks like you.

Liar. Bulma climbed aboard the ship and opened the door, Come on, well talk about this later. She sat down in the captains chair and began to type on the computer, her fingers a blur.

    What are you doing?

Running a systems check, the docking bay computer has a line to this one, we have to at least make it look like were doing our job. She checked her watch again and nodded to herself, Look busy Vegeta, I have to talk to the docking bay guy.

Vegeta turned around and shrugged to himself, he fiddled around with the bridge controls, changing the lighting and temperature settings as he listened to Bulma.

Just letting you know that Im going to be checking on the ships manual commands, including the docking bay doors, Id appreciate it if you could clear the air space between and here ad the doors so I can check if they open.

Of course. Vegeta rolled his eyes, the docking bay official sounded like a slimy, womanising toad.

Thank you sir. Bulma closed the communication, If Eighteen is on schedule then she should be arriving here any second. Bulma typed in a command and the docking bay doors opened, Vegeta strained his eyes but didnt see a thing, although Bulma chuckled and closed the docking bay doors about 2 minutes later.

Excellent. She mumbled and ran a few more systems check before standing up, There in.

You saw them? Vegeta looked puzzled, he hadnt seen a thing.

Bulma shook her head, I didnt see them come in but I saw them de-cloak and land. They de-cloaked gradually, they landed in space 109.

And the docking bay people didnt suspect anything when a shuttle with my empires markings on it landed?

Oh but it didnt have your empires markings, its on of the infiltration shuttles, its outer paint is actually made up of lots of tiny little microbes, it possible to program in patterns and change the ships markings.

Oh. Vegeta nodded slowly, You really should have told me about this ship, I could have sent you here in it.

Bulma shook here head and began to move towards the door of the shuttle, No, Dr. Briefs would have sabotaged it somehow.

    I guess youre right.

Eighteen, Chichi and Gringo opened the shuttle door and slipped out, Eighteen saw Bulma and a man with short spiky black hair, who she recognised after a moment as Vegeta, lounging against the wall of an office, a sleazy looing docking bay official was talking to them.

Bulma gave them the all clear signal and Eighteen nodded to Chichi who led the way, Gringo following her and Eighteen taking up the rear.

Do you remember the way to the shield generator well? Eighteen asked,

Chichi nodded, I had to guard it sometimes, I know the area where its kept really well.

Thats a plus. Gringo muttered; his head bowed.

Eighteen glared at the mans back, she didnt like him, but he was a mechanical genius, better even then Bulma was at figuring out alien electronic systems.

She looked around her at the multitudes of people and wondered if this plan was going to work, and, more importantly, how Bulma was going to get herself off the planet.

Surely she knew that without somebody on the ground blocking the defence systems she would have no chance of escaping
