Dangerous Bond

Chapter 39 : It's okay to cry

His promise was worthless. Bulma had known it from the moment he suggested it; the idea of an alternate antidote was just too far-fetched. They were lucky enough to develop one, but all that had done was keep Kiyashi alive... And she would die soon.

Bulma, her parents and Kiyashi, were standing in a field. Grey stones sat in lines that seemed to go on forever, drenched by the rain that pattered insistantly on the people's heads. Bunny was crying into Dr. Briefs shoulder and the scientist himself looked sad, if only for his daughter. As for Kiyashi... Well, the effects of the poison were coming back and she was wrapped up in a long black trenchcoat that nearly touched the ground. Her golden and black hair was plastered against her scalp and her face was a mask of pain and sadness.
Bulma herself wasn't crying. She stood there, her face blank and eyes far away, as one long wooden box was lowered into the ground by a group of others wearing black. She watched as dirt was piled up over it, but had to turn away as the grey stone was moved to cover the newly packed dirt. She couldn't bare to read that inscription, sure that it would haunt her for the rest of her life. And still no emotion showed on her face, her pain so deep it seemed not to be there. She felt as if her insides were being ripped out, as if her heart was being torn in two.

She looked back to Kiyashi, a feirce burning inside of her. If that woman had never come to Earth then this would never had happened! Bulma could have lived a nice long life, bringing up her children and going on holidays and rejoicing as her little boy or girl got his or her first report card... All under the watching eye of her mate, Vegeta. But that wasn't going to happen, and Bulma wasn't going to attack Kiyashi. In her current state the Saiya-jin no Hime would probably die from the lightest of punches. Bulma wanted her to suffer the full pain, just like her brother.

"It's alright to cry you know." Her father's kind voice commented, his warm hand placed upon her soaked shoulder, "It gets all the negative energy out so you can heal faster. And it might be a good idea if you at least looked at the grave."

"I might do." She replied, sapphire eyes shimmering with unshed tears, "No, I should do."

She turned back to the stone, the ingraved words seeming to jump out at her.

Vegeta-Ouji R.I.P Lost but never forgotten

the cold stone read.

Something inside Bulma snapped and she fell to her knees onto the soft soil, tears streaking down her cheeks.

'~Vegeta! No, come back to me. Tell me this is a dream! PLEASE!~'

She received no responce. It was if the line was dead, not even the feeling of being present on the other end. Bulma let out a loud cry, the pain of having her well formed bond ripped away from her tearing at her mind and body. She'd never felt pain like that, never ever. As the bond started to pull her back into darkness one thought ran through her mind.

'He promised me...'
