Chapter 11 : Show me..
"Hey, Vegeta!" The other Saiyan replied in his usual happy-go-lucky tone, "How're you doing? I was wondering if we could spar, Gohan and Piccolo can't keep up."
'Oh great,' Vegeta thought to himself, 'Now I'm gonna have to admit to being too weak to accept his challenge, or get thoroughly beaten in the... GR...?'
"Huh?" It wasn't like Vegeta to turn down a fight. "Why? Something up?"
"The GR isn't working, Kakarot. Now get lost." The agitated Saiya-jin began to walk away.
"You broke it?" Goku asked, not getting Vegeta's anything-but-subtle hint. "Isn't Bulma gonna fix it?"
With an extraordinary spurt of brain power Goku smiled innocently. "So, you're letting her sleep in?"
Vegeta glared at the third-class baka. "Yes." He replied defensively, "Is that a problem?"
"Naw." Goku replied, his smile practically reaching his ears. "You be good to her, 'kay, Vegeta?"
"What do you mean by... that?" He asked the air, then scowled and left the room.
"Hey, Geta!" She called to him, then continued on when she heard his answering grunt. "Who was that at the door?"
"That fool Kakarot." Vegeta replied, appearing in the doorway of his room.
"Oh, did he want to spar with you?" She inquired, oblivious to Vegeta's sudden lack of words or sharp-tongued retorts.
The prince nodded dumbly, eyes fixated on her. That's when she realised. Turning a deep shade of red Bulma made a clumsy excuse and backed hurriedly into her room.
'Ahhrgg! The embaressment!'
'Oh well, at least he didn't look at me like Yamjerk would do...'
Yes, Vegeta was definitely a better choice than Yamcha, in more ways than one. There was one thing that really bothered Bulma, however. The androids. What if her newfound love was killed when he went out on the front lines to fight the stupid machines, as the boy had said happened in his future time? She didn't think she could take that.
'What? I didn't think Vegeta knew how to relax... He must be slacking off!'
He landed on his feet, both hands covering the offended ear. "What was that for?!" He demanded, "Is it against your religion to let me rest?"
"You're slacking off!" She insisted, "I thought all you cared about was becoming a Super Saiya-jin."
"So you wanted me to come disturb your lie in?" He snapped in response, "If you really hate sleeping late then you should say so, it wouldn't take much for me to wake you every morning at 4:00! And as for slacking off, I NEVER slack off."
"What's this then?" She demanded, "Come on! Explain."
She blinked, "You weren't slacking off?"
"What do you take me for, onna?"
Bulma looked down guiltily, "I'm sorry, Geta. I... jumped to conclusions."
"Appology accepted. Now that you're awake..."
"You want me to fix the GR."
"Let me finish my sentance! No, I don't care about the GR right now, I'm in no condition to use it anyway. I was wondering... If you could show me what you humans do to have... fun."
Vegeta blinked. "What I like doing?"
"Yeah, you know. What you do in your time off. Like swimming and such."
"I, uh..." He thought about it. What did he do in his spare time? "Eat, mostly."
"I train, fight and destroy things. Oh, come on! This isn't going anywhere! The entire point of this is for you to show me how to have fun, meaning I don't know how to right now!"
Bulma tried not to laugh at the aggitated Saiya-jin.
'He looks so sexy when he's mad.' She surpressed a smile, 'But then, he always looks delicious...'
"Your parents are back." He informed her.
How had he known that? Ki sensing, probably. She sure couldn't see or hear anything. And he was right, too. Not too long after the door to the main room opened and Bunny tottered in on her high-heels, dragging a small sack behind her.
Bunny looked up, "Oh, yes please dear. There are ten more to come, your father has one."
"Okay then. Geta, I've got a job for you..."
"Happy?" He demanded, tail flicking arrogantly.
"Yes, thank you, Geta-san." Bulma replied sweetly, trying to annoy him while her parents were around.
"Did you have a good trip, dad?" She asked.
"Oh, it was great, Bulma honey!" Bunny shreiked, "It was sunny and warm and we had a nice big hotel room."
Dr. Breifs coughed loudly and turned to Bulma, "What about you? All work and no play, I suppose?"
"Mostly." She replied, ignoring the daggers Vegeta was staring at her, "But I had an OK time. Oh yeah, before we go? The GR's busted, so don't freak too bad when you see all the junk on the lawn." Grabbing Vegeta's arm she jerked playfully, "Let's go, Geta. We've got all afternoon yet!"
