The work day zoomed by. But for some unknown reason, at around 4:00pm, I felt the drive to get home as soon as I could. I chalked it off to the snowstorm that we were expecting. The reports were calling for a total of 12 inches by Sunday.
Once I arrived to pick up the kids at my parents house, I immediately got online. "I better download skype on my dad's computer," I thought. Need to see if David's online and see how things are going. The download was going to take an 1hr and 45min. I figured I'd check my email while I waited. Got an email from David and quickly opened it. My heart pounded as I read it. 'Earthrace has a cracked oil cooler cover and are on one engine at 16 knots,' it read. "Oh no!," I thought. I immediately email David. Now I'm nervous.
I inform my mom of the situation. My mom, being a Puerto Rican Roman Catholic, instantly says,"we'll have to light a candle and pray for them." I'm still nervous but feel that all will turn out fine. With God on our side and the talents of the entire team in play, all will work out.
I get home and at once, check to see if David's online. I Skype him, "Can't talk now", he says. "Have some emergencies going on, " he continues. "I'll call you back with an update," he assures. Later, David, skypes me and gives me a briefing of the situation. There's a plan in place and the team is moving forward. I feel a little relieved and we begin to fill each other in about our day.
David installed these webcams before he left and we got to see each other. It's so nice to see him. He has this glow about him even though he's tired. I get motivated just hearing him talk about all that he's working on and what the team is doing. Talk about inspiration! I turn in feeling better about the situation and relaxed now that I've spoken to my honey:)
