Title: Daniel's Story Author:Carol Matas Genre: Drama This book is about: The Holocaust and World War II. It's about a boy growing up in Frankfurt when Adolf Hitler comes to power. It's a very excellent book. Also anyone who wants to know how evil Hitler, the gestapo and the SS officers were to the Jewish people, should read this book. I thought it was heartbreaking that so many people were killed in the Holocaust. Find out what happens to Daniel, his mother, father and little sister Erika and how Daniel finds love at first sight on the way through terror. Review by Marc K. Rating:5/5 I would recommend this book to: People in grade 5 and up because anyone younger wouldn't understand, and if they are interested in the Holocaust and World War II.
Title: Bridge to Terabithia Author: Katherine Paterson Review by Bayle I think Bridge To Terebithia is a good book because it is about kids my age, it has good characters and it is a good length. I think it is good to read a book about kids your age because you can relate to more of the situations they are in than other books. In this book, the main character meets a new kid at school and she comes into his class, which is grade 5. This year there were lots of new kids in my grade five class. I think that it is really interesting that I can read a book that has situations that might actually happen to me. The characters in this book are similar to some of the kids in my class. One of the main characters in this book is a boy and all of the boys in his school are running races at recess. One day a new girl comes over and all the boys are shocked because all the girls usually stay on the other side of the playground talking about hair and makeup. The boys race the girl and she ends up being the fastest runner. This relates to my class because a new girl came to our class and was the best at soccer and all the boys couldnt believe it. It is more fun to read a book when the characters are similar to real people that you know. Sometimes when you read a book it looks like your little sister or brother could read it. Sometimes it looks too big for you and you dont even think your teacher could read it. But Bridge To Terebithia is the perfect size for a grade 5 level reader. The words are understandable and it has approximately 180 pages. I think this is perfect for some one in grade 5 who is looking for a book that is exciting and has a sad ending.
