Entry for November 20, 2006
I have been wanting to write about hiking sticks but the thread going on the TAG yahoo group has really been funny to me. They have been talking about police encounters while caching. I'll count myself as one of the lucky ones. The only encounter I've had was that I was looking for a local cache and when I was with in 20 feet of the cache there was a newbie looking for the cache. This "newbie" was one of our finest. We found the cache and enjoyed a nice conversation (by the way he already new of another cacher who shall remain nameless but he used to run a paintball store) about how he was trying to get a contest going between two local suburbs police troups. I guess that never happened because since then I've talked with several of the police (whom are friends of mine) in the other suburb and it never developed. I know this is weak in comparison to some of the stories that I've heard. Let's see I can think of atleast 2 maybe 3 times that a helicopter was involved, once a cacher that I know ended up riding in the back of a patrole car from one cache to the other across fields and I don't even want to know what else, several stories of where cachers were questioned as to what they were doing, and I think I even recall one where a K-nine unit was involved. I know you have a story to share so please post your adventure.
