Years ago when Noah's Paw Paw
Was still a young man,
He went off to fight a war
In a far off land called Vietnam.
Even though that war is over
And he's built him a good life,
The loss of so many other men
Sometimes cuts him like a knife.
Now Noahs a wise little man
At the ripe old age of four,
And if you didn't know better,
You might swear he's lived before.
Chasing fireflies with his Paw Paw
In the Tennessee twilight,
He fills up his little bug basket
To take to bed with him tonight.
But first thing in the morning,
Noah says "Daddy, we gotta let em go
Cause if you hurt them fireflies,
They won't come round no more, ya know".
Little Noah's gentle wisdom
Is kind of like a Balm in Gilead.
It brings a special kind of healing
to those folks like his grand dad.
