That he has signed up
For the $100 contribution
Under the Montgomery College bill?
A:On your son's LES (Leave and Earnings Statement)
For the first year it should show a deduction
In his pay every month for $100.
If he is past his one year mark
Than about half way down on the right side.
There is a block that says Education Deduction.
Under that it will say MGIB with an amt of $.
He has paid into it.
If no sign of a deduction.
Have him contact his Admin

Q:What are IRR's, AR's, SMCR's and FMCR.s?
A:
Active Reserve (AR)
This is a program where reservists serve on active duty

The Marine has to apply for it and it is very competitive.
Most are assigned to Marine Corps HQ in Washington, Reserve HQ in New Orleans,
or the Reserve Support Center in Kansas City,
though they may be assigned to other locations.
There isn't much difference between AR and regular Marines except that AR Marines usually don't deploy.
Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR)
These are the reserve Marines who belong to reserve units.
They drill one weekend a month and two weeks per year.
Some enlist in the SMCR at the start,
And others reenlist in the SMCR after they complete active duty.
Several SMCR units have been activated for 1 year.
Individual Ready Reserve (IRR)
This is the manpower pool of those who have completed their active duty obligation.
They don't drill but are subject to recall in case of national emergency.
Some IRR Marines are being recalled.
Fleet Marine Corps Reserve (FMCR)
These are enlisted Marines who have completed at least 20 but less than 30 years of active duty.
They draw retired pay based on their years of active duty.
Like IRRs they don't drill and are subject to recall.
When they complete a total of 30 years of active duty and FMCR time,
They're transferred to the retired list.
