The Kaduks' Vietnam Chronicle
A day-by-day record of the exciting events surrounding the adoption of our son, Thomas Michael Linh Kaduk.

This old lady was very sad to see thomas go.  These were the first babies that Americans had adopted from this orphanage.  The ladies didn't know what to expect.  They didn't even know if we'd love the babies.  We only had 1 translator for our group of 10 people, so most of our communicating was done by smiling and nodding.  Once this old lady realized that thomas was going with us, she'd kiss him, whisper something in his ear then touch him, susan, then me and start nodding again.  I'd like to believe that she was telling him that we were his new mommy and daddy, and we'd take care of him from now on.

OK, so you've got me in tears again.
How terribly sad for them to let him go.
He's such a lucky child to have such wonderful new parents. hopefully she could tell that by the time you left w/him.
