OK, we got so wrapped up in taking pictures of our beautiful, lovable, adorable, special, cute, cuddly, precious little boy, that we kind of forgot that some might be interested in how the process is going. Well, I went to the Vietnamese Passport Authority yesterday to apply for our little guy's passport. It reminded me a lot of going to get licence plates at DMV, except for the fact that there didn't seem to be a line or a "take-a-number" system. It appeared to me that when a cashier opens up, you just shove your way to the front and jam your paperwork under the glass. Whoever gets their application shoved through first gets the next available cashier/attendant, whatever. One lady did find out that Communist bureaucrats don't appreciate having blonde-haired american women take their photos. I got the picture above w/ a 10x zoom. Came out pretty good, I think.
We have our 1st American Embassy appointment on Monday at 1:30 pm, That's monday at 2:30 am for those of you in the eastern time zone. Apparently, this will be another DMV-like appointment in which the embassy officials practice their art of being masters of bureaucracy and ret tape. Also, I've heard reports that they are not the friendliest of folks, either. Hopefully, we'll get a really sweet one.
More to come soon, Mike
