Friedrich Glauser: The Spoke
Returning to this writer after some time has passed, I was again delighted
with the simple straightforward telling of what was a somewhat complex
murder plot. Featuring Sergeant Studer again, the characters are all
economically but believably portrayed and some parts, like the description of
the village midway through the novel, are poetic without being overblown.
It is easy to accept that Glauser was one of the greats of the inter-war crime
story.
