Tainted Blood: Arnaldur Indridason
As the film of this Icelandic-based policier is one of this year's London Film
Festival showings, any description of the plot would decidely be a spoiler.
The story is complex and, in some ways, can be taken as a riff on the tales
of such writes as Ross MacDonald where present day crimes unearth the sins
of the past. In this tale, there is a definite link with the past but with a most
decided twist. One variant is that the lead detective, albeit a curmudgeon,
seems relatively normal but has a junkie daughter to provide the flaw which
is succh a necessity, apparently, these days. There is a sequel which I intend
to search out and read (ahead of the probably 100 plus waiting on my shelves!).
