A Father's Love

My father called both my sister and I last night after hearing the heartbreaking news about the latest senseless killings within a school setting. This was the one that he simply couldn't fathom.

How could anyone take another's life? And how in God's name could someone do injury to such a peace-loving people?

He expressed concern for his two daughters who spend their days teaching in schools not so different from the ones in recent news.

"Tell me. What is the security like at your school? How will your administration keep these nuts off your campus? Who is able to come through the doors of your school?

I tried to reassure him, but didn't have the answers he was hoping for.

"Dad, I can't live my life in fear of what might happen."

Reassurance is not always possible.
