This is one of those websites I'll create and update pretty well whenever I feel like it. Basically its just a Weird Picture of the (insert time increment here.)
Welcome Race Fans to the 11th running of the Brickyard 400!!!
Ooooh, Balloons!!!
Recently I had the opportunity to attend the 2004 Brickyard 400 with a friend, and here are the pictures I brought back. Once again...mouse over the picture for the caption. Its just cleaner that way!!
Its a downright joy for a country boy when he hears them engines moan...and its also a pure pleasure to watch that Budweiser 8 car come flying out of turn 4 and buzz right past doing over 180 miles per hour!
Drivers!
So one of the first things they do before they have a race is the "Driver Introductions". I've never heard of thsi before, and they don't show it on tv (thanks to Pre-Race Coverage), and they basically have the drivers walk out, one by one...with family, or friends, and then they get in a vehicle, and ride around the track to wave to their fans.

The first image (the one at the top) is Michael Waltrip, who droves the number 15 NAPA sponsored Chevrolet, and I believe that's his wife Buffy.

Secondly, we have Dad's favorite, Dale Jarret in the UPS sponsored Ford.

and Finally, behind the pole, is Dale Earnhardt Jr. Lately he's been battling an ailment after not wearing all his fire suit, and unfortunately his car caught fire. This was the first full race he's been in, in over 3 weeks, and he didn't do too badly at it either.

I would have had a picture of Mom's favorite...Kevin Harvick, driver of the 29 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolet, but I spaced it. Sorry mom!

Ok this is the last of the captions. You're on your own now!
C'mon boys! Lets go Racin! Boogedy Boogedy Boogedy!!!
This is Dale Jarrets Ford Powered UPS advertisement. He did pretty well in the race, staying in the top 10 pretty much through the whole race, even winding up with second place...2 seconds in one season isn't too shabby for the man in the big brown truck.
Up next is Mikey Waltrip. Mikey had a rough start, having to pit again early, and stayed pretty well below the top 15 all day. Still a good run. Don't worry Mikey, I still like ya.
Another view of Mikey later on in the race...I don't see any damage or markings on his car. Must've took it easy today.
C'mon Boys! Let's go racing! Nice hat Dustin.
The first caution came on lap five when Jason Leffler skidded his machine into the wall, effectively ending his day almost before it even started.
For all you Kasey Kahne fans out there...I screwed up and got the 9 instead of the 8. The 8 was right behind and the camera was too fast. Sorry Dale.
In order to make mom happy again, I did finally grab a picture of Kevin Harvick's car, well into the race. It seems none the worse for wear, and Kevin stayed up pretty close to the front of the race, in spite of starting towards the back of the race.
This was a really big monitor that we could see from our seats. It usually displayed Jeff Gordon, but occasionally showed shots of Dale Jr, or Dale Jarrett...this is basically what you'd see on tv if you didn't get to go to the race.
All in all, it was a good day for racing. A few wrecks, but nobody got hurt. The weather was great, even had a nice breeze most of the time. It was a great day...until two things happened. Number 1...there was a caution at lap 158 of a 160 lap race...which sent NASCAR running for the new Green-White-Checker rule...which would expand the race to 161 laps to get a green flag finish....which pronounced Jeff Gordon the 4 time winner of the Brickyard... and Number 2, on that last lap...161 of 160...someone plowed Dale Jr. The only race I go to, the first race he's back in full time, and the car gets totalled. Oh well, better luck next time! It was still a great race!
I'm NASCAR'd out, take me home.
