Matthaei Family Blog
This is a blog for our family and friends to follow our journey to China to adopt Molly Ruth
Entry for March 5, 2007

On March 5, 2005 we signed our contract with our adoption agency, New Beginnings. That was the start of our journey to adopt a daughter from China. The road has been filled with more paper work, authorizations, duplications, translations and notarizations than one can imagine. Sometimes I think the Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs knows more about me than my mother. But just this past March 5, 2007 (two years to the day) we got our referral. We have named her Molly Ruth, born March 17, 2005. Maybe the fact that she is two years old and our adoption has taken just as long is a sign of good karma. Now we’re in a hurry to finish the baby’s room, get all our paper work in that is needed to travel and get the house in order. We hope to travel to China in six to eight weeks and we will be there for two weeks. As two kids that grew up during the cold war one of the last places that we never ever thought we’d go to is China. Now not only are we going, we’re adopting from China. Crazy world, go figure.

Marianne and George I am so excited to be an uncle again. This has been a long wait, but i know that the wait will be worth while, especialy the minute you first see Molly Ruth. Take time to enjoy your trip and take many pictures so Molly Ruth will have a photo journal of the beautiful country she comes from. I look forward to seeing many pictures of this joyous event. Love always, your brother John
