Maternity Acupressure's Blog
My blog about maternity acupressure, and how acupressure can be used to induce labor.
Inducing Labor -Some Considerations
Inducing labor happnes more than you might think. Usually if the risk for the woman to stay in thi state rather than hastening the delivery then inducing labor makes perfect sense. Inducing labor is when the birth process is given an artificial start through medical intervention or other methods such as maternity acupressure.

Medications are often used to start labor also. The most common choice is a synthetic version of oxytocin — a hormone your body produces at low levels throughout pregnancy and at higher levels during active labor. The problem with drugs is that, well, they're drugs. Anything you put into your system is passed along, and we by no means understand the fullness of what these kinds of drugs do long term.

Prostaglandin gel is another medicaton used to induce labor, and it also carries many of the same worries that synthetic oxytocin induction does. It causes hard uterine contractions that are stressful on you and the baby. Maternity acupressure avoids these stressors. Give it some consideration if you are looking for a safe, sane way to bring your baby into the world.
